General Purpose: Coordinate the mechanical and electrical needs necessary to support the physical facility to include support of expense project work. Directly supervise hourly and salaried employees assigned to the maintenance department with emphasis on continued development to further enhance skill sets. Manage maintenance department in accordance with State and Federal regulations. Ensure compliance to company policies and procedures. Ensure maintenance department objectives are met to include projects, safety, quality, cost, and delivery. Job Duties and Responsibilities: Provide leadership and direction for activities of maintenance technicians engaged in the maintenance electrical and mechanical operations Collaboratively drive improvements through daily interaction with all employees on the production floor, office and contractors. Inspect jobs in process and at completion to ensure that standards of workmanship and safety are maintained Demonstrate a strong sense of urgency and transmit that sense of urgency to the maintenance technicians in a constructive fashion Organize and prioritize work from work orders, estimate work hour requirements and delegate work to employees in maintenance department Plan, direct, and control the efforts of the Maintenance Department to maintain plant equipment and facilities commensurate with good engineering practices Recommend and plan equipment needs to improve production efficiency and/or achieve cost reduction through the utilization of CI enhancement tools Actively participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives (e.g., 5S, Kaizen, lean tools) Oversee the development, scheduling, and control of the plant preventative maintenance program to maintain production equipment in proper working condition and ensure that equipment is ready to run when scheduled utilizing CMMS systems (SAP a plus) Maintain contacts with vendors to requisition materials and supplies for the department Ensure that all equipment and facility installations and or modifications meet or exceed all regulatory agency (i.e., USDA, FSA, OSHA, ADA, EPA) standards and comply with all DFA policies and or procedures Ensure that production equipment is capable of producing within the specifications and tolerances established by the equipment manufacturer Consult with Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, and the Production Department regarding desirable modifications of existing equipment and facilities and the possible replacement of existing equipment to improve operations and reduce maintenance costs Monitor and report maintenance key performance indicators to top management and make recommendations for necessary changes to drive improvement Keep and update equipment and facility records and procedures such as equipment manuals, schematic drawings, and facility drawings Develop and maintain an effective department through proper selection, training and assignment of personnel capable of maintaining all equipment and facilities in a safe and efficient working condition Develop objectives and standards of performance for projects within the Maintenance Department required to meet departmental, divisional, and corporate goals and objectives Maintain and control departmental budget and ensure all work completed is within budget parameters and time constraints Participate in meetings or other communications with other departments regarding the resolution of ongoing problems, the implementation of new procedures or processes, or the development of new plans and designs Utilize industry approved methodologies to ensure proper inventory control of MRO parts and supplies Adhere to all DFA safety and food safety/quality policies and procedures and report any nonconformity Adhere to all GMP policies and procedures and report any nonconformity Provide availability 24/7 The requirements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employee, but is not a complete list of responsibiliti s, duties, and skills required. Minimum Requirements: Education and Experience BA/BS in mechanical or electrical engineering or similar field 7 years' experience in an industrial maintenance capacity 3-5 years' experience of direct supervision and management in a maintenance and or production environment Knowledge of factory automation to include PLC and HMI programming, Network Configuration, and servo systems preferred Knowledge of Boiler Operation and Steam generation, Waste Water Treatment, and Sanitary Welding, HVAC systems, air compressors, and electrical preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Able to analyze equipment problems, identify root cause to equipment problems Able to manage multiple projects Able to perform technical reading Knowledge of principles and practices of supervision, training, and personnel management Able to promote a team environment Able to employ, lead, and direct continuous improvement concepts to improve overall performance Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing Knowledge of and skill with Microsoft Office Suite and company computer systems, specifically Excel, Word, SAP, CMMS systems.
