Description

Responsible for overseeing all operations for Vacuum Heat Treat, Airfoil Braze, and Shipping & Receiving Departments. Communicate and work with other departments across all shifts to ensure that customers’ expectations are met. Ensure that Productivity, Quality, Safety, and Delivery requirements are achieved within the responsible departments. Provide effective leadership and vision for these departments and their respective leaders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with Shift Managers and department Supervisors to ensure that labor is coordinated effectively maximizing productivity.

  • Monitor and evaluate turnaround with appropriate production personnel to ensure customer satisfaction.

  • Coordinate production activities between departments.

  • Anticipate and troubleshoot problems with new jobs and resolve them as quickly as possible. Track and evaluate first production runs.

  • Halt or make corrections when non-conforming work appears. Follow-up on non-conforming reports (NCRs), determine root cause, and follow-up with corrective measures.

  • Establish and maintain strong safety awareness among all production personnel.

  • Work with Operations Manager to form staffing plans, including staffing levels and overtime needs in order to productively meet customer requirements.

  • Communicate with sales and engineering regarding solutions to problems and business opportunities.

  • Examine work as it enters the plant to identify potential problem jobs. Monitor and expedite the progress of challenging jobs.

  • Recommend price increases on jobs, which inherently have poor productivity, only after all means of improving productivity fails to meet our targets.

  • Fill in for the Operations Manager, as necessary.

  • Assist in the training and assessment of plant production personnel. Establish training and procedures for onboarding and continuous development of personnel.

  • Manage the Shift Managers, Airfoil Braze Supervisor, Shipping and Receiving Supervisor, and Scheduler including performance evaluation, disciplinary action, and development.

  • Assist in entering needed programs to the furnaces. Enter new parts and processes in the PICS database system, as needed.

  • Record customer feedback into appropriate recordkeeping system and follow-up, as necessary.

  • Help support and attain the plant’s yearly goals and metrics. Set up goals and measures for responsible departments and implement plans to attain them. Monitor production to make sure we are meeting our productivity needs and goals.

  • Lead productivity and continuous improvement efforts throughout the plant, especially in the areas of Culture, Customer Satisfaction, Productivity, Safety, and Quality.

  • Champion corrective and preventive actions in responsible departments as well as 5S initiatives.

Qualifications

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of basic heat treating and heat-treating equipment.

  • Two years’ experience in a supervisory or organizational leadership capacity

  • Knowledge of spreadsheets and word processing.

  • Must be able to participate in and encourage teamwork and open communication.

    License(s)/Certification(s) Required:

  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record in compliance with Paulo’s Vehicle Use Policy.

  • Must be able to obtain a forklift certification.
