Job Summary

Geisinger is seeking a neurologist with fellowship training in multiple sclerosis and neuroimmunology to join its neurology specialty clinic at Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre PA.

Job Duties

This position will be based in the out-patient clinic full time with no nighttime or weekend call or coverage. There is another fellowship-trained MS neurologist practicing in Geisinger’s central and west regions with a nurse navigator and advanced practitioners dedicated to the program. There is also on-site support from a neurology trained clinical pharmacist. Infusions are provided through the Cancer Center. Experience or interest in managing spasticity would be welcome.

The clinic will be moving to brand new medical office building on campus in the Spring of 2024. The clinic team includes full time neurologists from other subspecialities and experience advanced practitioners. There is nighttime teleneurology coverage from the Geisinger’s central region.

Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center (GWV) is northeast Pennsylvania’s premier tertiary care center with three hundred beds and home to the region’s only comprehensive stroke center, a level II trauma center, the Richard and Marion Pearsall Heart Hospital, the Frank M. and Dorothea Henry Cancer Center, and the Tambur Family Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. In addition to the new medical office building, there are plans for a new acute care tower with expanded critical care beds.

Medical students from Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine rotate through the clinic and there is new neurology residency opening at GWV next year, so there are many opportunities for teaching. Faculty appointments and more formal roles in education are available for qualified candidates.
