Actalent Manufacturing Test Engineer in Westborough, Massachusetts

Description:

We are seeking a talented and motivated Manufacturing Test Development Engineer with a proven track record of implementing best in class test techniques and processes within a complex manufacturing environment. This role will report to the Manager of NPI Test Development and is a member of the Robotics Manufacturing Technical Operations team. This individual will primarily focus on manufacturing test development & support for manipulation applications which leverage Robotic Arms such as Fanuc, ABB, custom End-of-Arm tools and power distribution systems. You will work closely with engineering, production, test engineers, and external vendors to deliver and work with the highest quality products with the lowest cost.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop or implement manufacturing test strategies and solutions for robotic manipulation applications.

  • Document test procedures, test specifications, and acceptance criteria for new and current products.

  • Guide and implement the design of automated test solutions, including electrical interfaces, interface test adapters, and software

  • Propose design changes that will enhance product manufacturability and testability.

  • Write programs to control test equipment and devices under test using standard software tools.

  • Evaluate and approve product electrical Engineering Changes Orders (ECOs).

  • Support EOL test stations at local contract manufacturers and system integrators.

  • Persistently promote a safe working environment by following all safety procedures.

  • Up to 10% travel required. – will fly out and stay for a few days to implement solutions

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of related work experience in a fast-paced manufacturing/test engineering focused environment.

  • Experience with debugging industrial robots such as Fanuc, Rockwell, Siemens PLCs, IO-Link based control systems.

  • Functional knowledge of one or more programming languages (LabVIEW/MATLAB/Python or similar) MUST UNDERSTAND PROGRAMMING

  • Demonstrated expertise in test strategy development, ability to define test requirements, and implement manufacturing EOL test solutions to support NPI programs

  • Working knowledge of basic electrical equipment, electro-mechanical controls, power systems (1ph/3ph AC/24-48VDC systems).

  • Experience with reading and debugging with electrical schematics.

  • Up to 10% travel required. – will fly out and stay for a few days to implement solutions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of Electrical & Safety Standards, functional safety systems for industrial controls.

  • Experience in support or maintenance in manufacturing or field sustaining environment.

  • Experience developing & maintaining Automated Test Systems using LabVIEW/TestStand, Python, MATLAB/Simulink or equivalent tools.

  • Experience with PLCs, networking, and wireless computer systems.

  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art automated test equipment and test fixture design.

  • Excellent business communication skills.

Degree or Certification:

  • BS in Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering or a related technical field

  • Preferred - Master’s degree in Electrical, Robotics or Mechatronics Engineering.
