WEST VALLEY CITY Event/Banquet Coordinator - The Ridge Golf Course in WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah

Description

Provide supervision of the banquet staff, hosting events, closing events and the building at the conclusion of events. Attend to food and beverage areas ensuring a high level of quality and consistency. Provide exceptional customer service for the Food & Beverage operations at the City's venues, snack bars, restaurants and banquet rooms. Promote, expand and build upon golfing outings, banquets, wedding ceremonies, wedding receptions and all other events requiring food and beverage services. 

Starting Pay: $21.01 per hour

Schedule: Full-time, 40-hours per week, flexible schedule required including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage facilities and perform assigned activities in snack bars, banquet rooms and meeting rooms at City venues. 
  • Provide supervision, training and coaching of banquet servers and all new team members. Work with and report to managers regarding employee's performance. 
  • Communicate with managers, supervisors, staff, golf operations, and the public to ensure efficient operation of the banquet facilities. 
  • Work as an equal team member with the Pro-shop, Maintenance, and F&B Managers. 
  • Conduct tours of the venue and accept deposits, provide event quotes and final payments for events. Perform administrative duties associated with all events. 
  • Plan, arrange, and oversee wedding rehearsals. 
  • Meet with brides and event contacts to finalize room set up, menu selection and any other specific details. 
  • Perform duties to keep the banquet and concession facilities visually pleasing, clean, and safe through regular inspection, maintenance, and cleaning. Complete all side work check lists daily. 
  • Perform public relations, customer service, and provide a positive experience for all guests. Manage venue social media in coordination with City Public Relations Department. Assist in marketing efforts through one-on-one customer relations, printed media, trade shows, and other means. 
  • Ensure the operations are safe and employees are protected, and the operation complies with all safety laws and regulations. Report any potentially dangerous or harmful situations to a manager immediately. 
  • Assist Food & Beverage Manager/Assistant Manager in ensuring all employees are certified, as necessary, with food handling and alcohol serving, and other pertinent certifications. 
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • The ability to obtain knowledge in golf, weddings, catering, customer service as well as Food and Beverage industry.
  • Ability to assist with golf activities, wedding ceremonies, wedding receptions, banquets and other events which require any type of food or beverage.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with entire staff and the public, maintain a congenial rapport with all those he/she comes in contact with.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite preferred (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams). 

Education and/or Experience

  • High sch ool diploma or GED required.
  • Post high school education preferred. 
  • Two years food & beverage, catering, bartending and/or event planning experience preferred. 
  • Experience in Food and Beverage Management preferred. 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Must have or be able to obtain Serve Safe Management certification. 
  • Must have or be able to obtain current alcohol service certifications and training.
  • Must have, or be able to acquire within 30 days, a Utah Driver License 

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hand and arms; talk or hear.
  • The mployee is required to stand or balance.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision of abilities required by this job include peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. 

Work Environment

  • A combination of office and hands on work such as: cooking, serving, bussing, front counter, beverage cart and interacting with customers on a daily basis.
  • Intermittent exposure to stress as a result of pressure and human behavior. Willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends to meet scheduled events. Intermittent exposure to long hours during, but not limited to busy seasonal demands.
