THERM-TECH OF WAUKESHA INC Large Batch Quench and Temper Operator in WAUKESHA, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Description: The Large Batch Quench & Temper Operator is responsible for successful heat treatment of primarily large size forgings and castings to be used in the oil and gas, mining, heavy equipment, and rail industries. Following a provided schedule, the cell operator will load components into large batch heat treating furnaces capable of running loads in excess of 10,000 pounds at 1500-2200F. The cell operator then performs subsequent quenching tempering operations which strengthen the components to final specifications provided by the end user. These operations require continual monitoring for conformance to specified process parameters Principle Duties & Responsibilities: -Use cranes or manual lifting (depending on part size), transfer components from customer containers to ThermTech heat treating baskets/grids -Count specific quantities of parts per batch & ensure the load quantity matches the written process instructions and/or order quantity -Ensure that at least one load is built & ready to load into each furnace to avoid idle time -Report any concerns to shift foreman -Complete shift checklist forms at the start of each shift to verify starting condition of all equipment and processes -Brief oncoming shifts of the status of all equipment & processes via inter-shift meetings -Understand how to configure each furnace for each cycle per the written process instructions -Inspect each furnace load prior to loading to ensure sound build -Safely load each furnace without incurring equipment damage -Transfer work to quench tanks & perform quenching operations per the stated process parameters -Monitor furnaces in-process via digital furnace charts to ensure process parameters are followed throughout cycle -Ensure furnace soak times are met in accordance with written process instructions via digital furnace chart verification -Perform as-quenched hardness readings when mandated by process instructions -Minimize furnace overrun time by ending cycles & quenching work in the allotted time frame for each order -Break down furnace loads at the end of processing so that furnace alloy can be utilized for subsequent loads -Assist in final inspection & finishing department operations when needed -Hot-straighten alloy fixturing as requested by supervision -Ensure plant organization and cleanliness Minimum Requirements: All hires are contingent upon a 9-panel hair follicle drug test & background check.
