City of Warwick Pipe Layer and Fitter in Warwick, Rhode Island

Under the general supervision of the Field Supervisor, lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and pipe supports related to a water utility (transmission and distribution system). Duties include: ? Locates and operates vales and/or gates. ? Installs water mains, hydrants, valves, gates, services, tapping sleeves, and related appurtenances. ? Installs and makes minor repairs to meters. ? Repairs services and water mains. ? Tests, services and repairs hydrants. ? Operates trucks, air compressors, pumps, jack hammers, plumbers furnace, tapping machines of various sizes and other equipment incidental to work assignment. ? Operates hand tools related but not limited to the trade. ? Performs related work as required. Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent with one to three years related experience and/or training; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. SPECIAL NOTE: Must possess a valid State of Rhode Island Commercial Drivers License. Must obtain within one year of hire a Grade1D Operator License and be subject to the continuing education requirements of the State of Rhode Island Department of Health. A drivers license check for the last two years will be performed. Negative findings may prevent applicants from being considered.
