The Role

The Scrum Master will guide and coach the Product Owner and development team through the planning, development and delivery phases. The Scrum Master creates an open, collaborative, respectful and transparent environment and applies specialist knowledge of and experience in Agile, Scrum and Kanban to help teams deliver and continuously improve quality, velocity, learning and growth.

The Senior Scrum Master is also responsible to provide input to Product Management, other Scrum Masters and development teams on Agile principles and practices. While working collaboratively with others in the organization to ensure a consistent and holistic approach, they will apply practical technical and industry expertise in Agile methodologies to enable and support the Agile teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate effective and efficient agile ceremonies.

  • Ensure the team grooms and prioritizes the backlog, estimates work items and supports the team in planning releases that deliver the highest value.

  • Facilitate continuous improvement through fostering open communication and a trusting, safe environment.

  • Conduct Agile health assessments and implement corrective measures where needed.

  • Embrace servant leadership by providing regular constructive feedback on team performance, identifying opportunities for skills development, empowerment and mastery.

  • Remove obstacles and foster an environment for team members to be able to provide honest and constructive feedback, address conflicts, freely escalate roadblocks, help the team to identify and resolve problems.

  • Facilitate communication between team members and between the team and its stakeholders.

  • Guide the Product to prioritize and groom backlog towards delivering highest value.

  • Coach team to deliver highest value while balancing technical and business work items.

  • Champion and promote Agile principles, values and scrum practices within the team and with stakeholders.

  • Empower teams to be self-organizing and autonomous.

  • Identify and remove roadblocks that may impede team’s delivery of value.

  • Use metrics to plan, make team’s work visible and to proactively identify obstacles to delivering value.

    Skills & Requirements

Requirements:

  • Must be passionate about Agile and Servant Leadership.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of professional experience plus related education.

  • Demonstrated experience in a Scrum Master role with minimum of 5 years’ experience working with software development teams.

  • Must have strong organizational and facilitation experience in running all scrum ceremonies for multiple teams.

  • Experience with using tools like Azure DevOps, TFS or Jira for work item/backlog management and tracking.

  • Hands on experience in coaching teams to perform at their best.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills at a business and technical level.

  • Excel at relationship building across all levels of an organization.

  • Demonstrated ability to solve increasingly complex problems, manage competing priorities and achieve project success.
