The Division of Research is seeking a Research Compliance Coordinator who will be providing assistance in research administration compliance, including export controls, conflicts of interest/commitment, responsible conduct of research, and program coordination. Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Three years of research compliance, export control, program coordination, or related experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage a large volume of work under pressure with competing needs.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with strong commitment to customer service.

  • Ability to carry out tasks independently.

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, and organizational skills.

  • Discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a regulatory affairs compliance, research administration, or research compliance.

  • Law degree or legal experience; EAR and/or ITAR certifications.

  • Personal or professional experience in working with people of all backgrounds.

  • Working knowledge of conflict of interest regulations, export control regulations, research compliance, federal grant and contract regulations and practical application of current research administration issues.

  • Public speaking/presentation skills.

  • Working knowledge of TAMUS electronic systems (i.e. Visual Compliance, Maestro, AggieBuy, Concur, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • FINANCIAL CONFLICT OF INTEREST COMPLIANCE- Monitors and tracks annual financial conflict of interest disclosures and training, including following up on expired trainings and/or disclosures. Reviews annual disclosures for conflict of interest compliance. Assists with drafting management plans and any required annual updates. Coordinates and assists with any necessary compliance meetings. Assists with the reviews of annual disclosures, to include any necessary export control and/or global engagement reviews. Assists with monitoring nepotism on sponsored research projects. Assists with institutional conflicts of interest. Assists with routing pre-approval requests.

  • EXPORT CONTROL- Assists with reviews of faculty and staff activities for compliance with University, state, and federal export control requirements related to disclosures, outside activities, and any other export control related activity. Assists with monitoring required export control training. In coordination with the Executive Director and/or delegate, assists with Technology Control Plans and related export exemptions/exceptions. Works with investigators and staff to maintain export control compliance with regulatory standards. Works with faculty and staff to ensure that any export of University information or items outside of the U.S. comply with University, state, and federal export control requirements. Assists with export control classifications, requesting export licenses, and filing paperwork. Stays up to date with export control laws, regulations, and sanctions, and provide updates as necessary.

  • PROGRAM SUPPORT- Assists in the development, implementation, and updating of policies and procedures relating to all applicable program areas. Coordinates with existing program staff to maintain electronic and paper files ensuring all are up-to-date and complete. Assists staff in the development of training materials and conducts regulatory training as needed. Assists in updating and maintaining online training resources and other materials and program websites. Serves as a liaison between the programs and the research community as appropriate. Consults and advises faculty, staff, and students in the preparation of required documents based on knowledge of guidelines, rules and Federal regulations. Provides preliminary review of annual financial conflict of interest disclosures for compliance including providing recommendations to supervisor and feedback to customers. Works with supervisor in the development or modification of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and office processes. Tracks and monitors compliance with various compliance areas, including export control, responsible conduct of research, and financial conflicts of interest.
