The Regional Quality Director will promote a quality driven mindset across the Food and Converter segment within the Flexibles division. The position works with cross-departmental leadership to deliver high quality products to the customer while maintaining a quality system to ensure the company’s facilities, equipment, personnel, methods, processes, and procedures conform to both internal guidelines and regulatory/statutory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Work cross functionally to champion development and execution of strategic processes across the segment and drive effective and systemic improvements leading the organization to a ZERO defect future state.

  • Develop an overall multi-year strategic plan to drive the needed improvements in the organization.

  • Work collaboratively with commercial and operational teams, communicating with customers to resolve quality issues and establish appropriate effective corrective actions.

  • Utilize, deploy and integrate multiple Root Cause tools and ensure the proper methodology is being utilized. (Including, but not limited to: fishbone, 5-why, FMEA)

  • Coordinate, collect, analyze, and effectively communicate quality data internally as well as per customer demands.

  • Proactively plan interfaces with key stakeholders including customers to review the plan, progress, results and make any needed course adjustments.

  • Provide support and direction to Regional Quality Leaders to achieve agreed upon goals.

  • Communicate with other functions to assure both product quality and processes improvements are implemented and maintained.

  • Review customer complaints and claims for opportunities for improvement.

  • Conduct internal audits (assessments) and per customer expectations (i.e. iQuality) and organize 3rd party audits to ensure required compliance to ISO standards and customer requirements are met.

  • Lead and assist in effective Management of Change Process (MoC) for the division to ensure timely customer notification of changes.

  • Advise Leadership on potential risks associated with Quality issues.

  • Review Customer Quality Agreements for accuracy, compliance, and collaboration with plant sites.

  • Ensure products are in compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.

  • Reports to Leadership on regular basis the status of improvement initiatives through various reports and summaries.

  • Conduct pre-assessment audits for AIB, BRC, SQF, ISCC, ISO and help the sites to navigate the certification process by preparing them in advance to shorten the time taken to achieve certification.

  • Drive and support divisional vision including initiatives like vision systems and quality windows.

Qualifications

  • Ability to organize, coordinate and direct cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to perform analysis utilizing latest software tools i.e. Quality Windows, Minitab, etc…

  • Ability to self-direct, lead and drive improvement opportunities through completion.

  • Ability to work effectively with key stakeholders, leaders, and plant sites to consistently drive improvements.

  • Problem Solving - identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; gathering and analyzing information skillfully to develop alternative solutions.

  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills- write and verbalize clearly, informatively, and effectively, able to read and interpret written information at a high level consistent up to combative environment at times in a customer interaction.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in a technical field.

  • Three years of Quality leadership experience and or Operation experience.

  • Strong organizational and leadership skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Demonstrated ability to provide guidance and leadership to others.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop a team environment.

  • Working knowledge of ISO standards for healthcare/personal care primary packaging and food packaging

  • Working knowledge of PSC, Six Sigma, and team building

  • Experience with manufacturing.

  • Experience with various 3rd party audit organizations covering ISO standards.

  • ASQ certification and Plastics experience desired

  • Ability to travel (25% - 40% travel required)

  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must be computer literate and proficient in Windows, Word PowerPoint, and Excel.
