Job Description:

The Principal Supplier Quality Engineer (PSQE) will lead a team of Supplier Quality Engineers in overseeing the quality activities of the company’s largest suppliers in support of our key rocket motor product lines. The PSQE will work in concert with the Supply Chain Performance Manager to assure flowed requirements are understood, conforming products are produced, and delivered on time by the supplier. PSQE will orchestrate SQA activities to ensure that the supplier delivered products and/or services conforming to the company’s contractual requirements by designing, implementing, evaluating and continually improving quality assurance, control methods, and systems. The PSQE will translate technical data and contractual requirements into a comprehensive, understandable, and functional quality plan; monitor and closely support manufacturing, inspection, and supplier functions that relate to product quality; coordinate with the stakeholders the establishment of government quality requirements and material review board activities; represent quality assurance in corrective action activities; and participate in audits or product evaluation to determine the effectiveness of the quality assurance program. This role will support suppliers in the Continental US.

Essential Functions:

  • Leads, SQA function for the Supplier Management Team (SMT).

  • Coordinates with the integrated SMT to manage the portfolio of the key suppliers’ products.

  • Interfaces and communicates with key program customers (i.e. engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, internal quality assurance etc.).

  • Teams with the supplier to assure conforming products are produced and received per contract requirements.

  • Visit the supplier locations to review technical, quality, and other contractual requirements. Ensure the supplier has an adequate understanding of all the requirements. Review the suppliers' plans for adequacy and ensure all requirements are met. This includes, pre-award, post award, manufacturing readiness, process controls, and other periodic reviews as requested.

  • Perform investigation and root cause analysis to drive improvements into their processes. Be accountable for assigned suppliers' performance and ensure suppliers are driving toward a 100% quality and delivery rating.

  • Work with suppliers to ensure First Article Inspection are performed/reported. Resolve issues with purchase order inspection packages as required. Investigate and report supplier quality history as requested.

  • Ability to travel up to 75% and frequent air travel; this role is supporting suppliers in California, Alabama, Nebraska, and Massachussetts; if you live in state travel will be less.

  • Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance.

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant Supplier Engineering experience.

  • Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related Supplier Engineering experience.

  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related Supplier Engineering experience.

    Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Previous experience in metallurgy, welding, machining, and/or composites.

  • Problem solving, RCCA and investigation experience.

  • Ability to synthesize and analyze data from several sources and develop a plan to take action based upon the data.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work in a close-knit team environment.

  • Working knowledge of AS9100 Aerospace Quality Management System Standard and AS9102, First Article Inspection Standard.

  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer preferred.

  • Lean Six Sigma Blackbelt experience preferred.

  • Certified Special Process experience preferred.

  • APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning).

  • FMEA (Failure Mode Effect Analysis).

  • PPAP (Production Part Approval Process).

    In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Washington State and New York State is $116,500.00-$216,500.00. For California, Seattle and New York City, the salary range for this role is $134,500.00 - $249,000.00. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
