Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

-Assists with the design, planning, and coordination of experiments in support of various research projects involving wet laboratory, greenhouse, and field studies.

-Manages and coordinates various research projects as needed

-Selects and applies standard techniques of routine research and maintains detailed records of data.

-Uses field, lab, or technical equipment to collect data, organize data sets, and prepare reports.

-Evaluates and summarizes results.

-Assists in maintaining financial accounts and other clerical tasks related to research projects.

-Assists undergraduate and/or graduate students and other laboratory, technical or field staff involved in research with various day to day activities.

-Installs, operates, maintains, and/or repairs research equipment.

-Assists with reports, invoices, and cataloging records.

-Assists in ordering supplies for office and research use.

-Maintains and updates inventories.

-Other related duties as assigned.

Required Education:

-A PhD in Weed Science, Molecular Biology, Agronomy, or relevant fields.

Required skills, knowledge or abilities.

-Knowledge of computers and computer software related to the position.

-Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

-Strong communication skills and ability to work as a team.

-Ability to travel to research stations with some occasional overnight stays.

Preferred skills, knowledge or abilities.

-Knowledge of wet lab skills, sterile techniques, and plant culture in growth chamber and greenhouse settings.

-Knowledge of greenhouse, laboratory, and field research involving weed ecology and management, and agronomy.

-Knowledge of and skills with HPLC analysis.

-Ability and skills in effective scientific writing and publications.

-Ability and skills in grant writing and project management.
