Job Description

In consultation with the PI, coordinates and executes research projects studying the genomics and molecular genetics of bacteriophages infecting human pathogenic bacteria including Burkholderia, Acinetobacter, and Klebsiella spp. Identifies and implements established protocols where they are available, and also modifies or develops new protocols to suit research goals. Maintains laboratory notes, uses a computer to perform data analyses, prepares data for presentation and drafts manuscripts for publication. Some general laboratory management will be required, including maintenance of the lab’s inventory and protocol systems. As a senior person in the laboratory, will assist the PI in the training of graduate students and other lab workers. Function safely with human-pathogenic bacteria in a BSL-2 environment. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education:

PhD in microbiology, microbial genetics, virology or a related field.

Preferred Experience:

Experience in the molecular biology and genetics of bacteria or viruses, including cloning, expression and genetic selections. Previous experience working with bacteriophages.
