Job Summary:

This nine-month appointment involves teaching undergraduate nursing courses, both theory and clinical, commensurate with expertise and education. The opportunity for other faculty roles and responsibilities are also provided.

Work Performed:

  • Teach undergraduate nursing courses, both theory and clinical.

  • Utilize the online learning management system, WTClass, for which training is provided.

  • Advise students currently in the undergraduate nursing program.

  • Serve on departmental committees and University committees (if elected).

  • Attend monthly Faculty/Staff Organization Committee meetings.

  • Demonstrate productivity in scholarly activity, if hired in a tenure-track position, for which a doctoral degree is required.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Necessary Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree in Nursing is required for an instructor position. Candidates obtaining a Master's degree in Nursing by December 2024 will be considered.

  • A current unencumbered license, or eligibility for license, to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Texas.

  • The ability to instruct students in a variety of courses in various clinical situations.

  • The ability to develop teaching materials.

  • The ability to work effectively as a member of the team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A doctoral degree in nursing or a related field. If the doctorate is in a related field, a Master's degree in Nursing is required.

  • Experience in teaching in baccalaureate and/or Master's degree programs in nursing.
