Emergent Health Partners Full Time Paramedic I/C in United States

The HVA EMS Education department has an immediate opening for a full time – Paramedic, licensed Instructor/Coordinator (I/C). This is a great opportunity for experienced EMS personnel/instructors to work in a progressive educational setting that offers flexible scheduling, competitive wages, support and guidance with both day and evening course schedules.

Job duties will include providing didactic and practical EMS education in a classroom setting, along with proctoring and evaluating student progress. Other duties will include instructing AHA, Heartsaver, BLS and ACLS courses, along with other instructional assignments such as new employee training, PHTLS and/or PEPP courses.

Requirements and job duties include:

  • Current Paramedic/IC license.

  • Minimum of an associate degree at time of hire / Bachelor preferred.

  • Current AHA, BLS instructor certification and in good standing.

  • Required to obtain ACL, PHTLS and PEPP instructor certificate within the 1st year of employment.

  • Not in any current disciplinary action and/or corporate PIP.

  • Able to commit to both day and/or evening courses as required.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as an “active” EMS provider, at the same or higher level than is expected to instruct.

  • Minimum of 3 years of instructional experience, preferably in the EMS field.

  • Possess and maintain a valid Michigan driver’s license and maintain an acceptable driving record as per EHP policy.

  • Ability to serve as an effective role model for students and/or subordinates.

  • Knowledge of instructional equipment and maintenance.

  • Ability to gain respect and create a positive learning environment.

  • Ability to identify and adapt to different educational and learning styles based on ADA requirements.

  • Ability to identify and effectively manage difficult students and effectively deal with stressful situations as necessary.

  • Advanced computer skills including the ability to utilize a computer PC with Windows operating systems.

  • Comfortable with operating various learning platforms and/or blended learning technology.

  • Assist students with the resources required for course completion, along with coordinating the necessary support to meet needs of the program and/or learner.

  • Ensure that classroom resources are available, functional and set up as needed to present the components of the training session/program (i.e. handouts, AV equipment, and practical skills equipment).

  • Ensure that, under the State of Michigan and CoAEMSP (Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Providers) standards, course records are created and maintained as required.

  • Prepare for and present information/skills as necessary to instruct a specific subject matter according to recommended guidelines and produce a successful outcome. Create, administer, and document results of evaluations to monitor student progress and identify areas that may need more attention by the instructor and respond appropriately.

  • Ensure that program preparation and/or execution is appropriate so that programs are run in an efficient and effective manner.

  • Check and maintain education resources. Keep equipment and storage areas clean and organized. Request supplies/repairs in a timely manner so that deficiencies may be corrected prior to need.

  • Communicate effectively with students, and/or fellow colleagues as appropriate.

  • Adhere to both departmental and corporate policies and/or procedures as required.
