General Description:

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead and contribute to the design, development, and implementation of mechanical systems and components across various projects and initiatives. This role requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in mechanical engineering principles and practices, capable of providing technical expertise, leadership, and innovation in solving complex engineering challenges.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead the design and analysis of mechanical systems and components, including but not limited to structural elements, machinery, and mechanical assemblies. Develop detailed engineering designs, specifications, and documentation, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements. Conduct engineering calculations, simulations, and finite element analyses to validate designs and ensure performance, reliability, and safety. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, software developers, and project managers to integrate mechanical systems into overall product architectures. Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and oversight to junior engineers and designers, fostering a culture of innovation, excellence, and continuous improvement. Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and troubleshooting efforts to address technical challenges and optimize design solutions. Support prototype development, testing, and validation activities, analyzing test results and iterating designs as necessary to meet project objectives.

Work Experience Requirements:

Minimum 8 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a proven track record of leading complex engineering projects from concept to implementation. Extensive experience in CAD modeling and drafting software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for mechanical design and documentation. Strong familiarity with engineering standards and codes applicable to mechanical design and analysis. Educational Requirements (or equivalent):

Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Masters degree preferred. Professional engineering (PE) license or equivalent certification is advantageous but not required.

Working Conditions:

This work is typically performed in an office environment, which requires normal safety precautions; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes, or equipment. Essential Skills/Experience:

Proficiency in mechanical design principles, including statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, and machine design. Experience with engineering analysis tools such as finite element analysis (FEA), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and multi-body dynamics (MBD). Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to apply engineering principles to identify and resolve technical issues. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams and stakeholders. Beneficial Skills/Experience: Space / Aircraft application experience Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials selection for mechanical components, including machining, casting, and additive manufacturing. Familiarity with regulatory requirements and standards relevant to mechanical systems in specific industries (e.g., aerospace, automotive, consumer electronics). Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) software for managing design data, revisions, and documentation. Background in mechatronics, robotics, or automation systems design.
