The Opportunity

Black & Veatch is seeking a Consultant level professional to join our team of consultants, strategic advisors, technology specialists, and energy industry respected subject matter experts. The Consultant will support the development and execution of projects in the growing the Sustainability Solutions business. #LI-NK1 #LI-Hybrid

Key Responsibilities

  • The ideal candidate must have a strong desire to support the Sustainability Solution group’s business vision – which is to be the leading sustainable consulting and EPC firm – by supporting projects with the strategy, concepts and insights, analytical techniques, implementation capabilities in the energy industry and adjacent sectors.

  • Responsible for data analysis and initial preparation of deliverables to contribute to the completion of an engagement.

  • Work with limited to moderate supervision and/or may lead a small effort or project team.

  • Support the development, implementation, and management of the Sustainability Solutions business plan to grow the level of business and client base and support the acquisition of new clients and engagements. 

  • Support conducting quality assurance reviews on their own and others' work.

  • Be an active participant in project teams, contributing to the overall high-quality of project deliverables.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or relevant work experience.

  • 4+ years experience in a business/consulting environment.All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree preferred in energy-related policy, finance, or energy-adjacent focus

  • 4 years managing complex energy projects/initiatives

  • Successfully executing work on multiple engagements simultaneously

  • Knowledge and understanding of the energy industry; knowledge of industry business drivers and transformation drivers and impacts

  • Excellent communication/ presentation skills (written, verbal)

  • Certifications related to area of expertise, where applicable preferred

  • Experience related to one or more of the following Sustainability areas: decarbonization, distributed energy resources, electric vehicles, integrated energy service platforms/financial modeling, low carbon fuels

  • Proven experience collaborating among cross-functional, highly technical teams

  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex findings into executable strategic insights and recommendations for both executive and mid-management stakeholders

  • Highly developed organizational and management skills

  • Cognitive flexibility, intellectual curiosity

  • Demonstrated ability to develop business insights & new/creative ways of solving challenges

  • Desire to work in face-paced, start-up like environment where deliverables & tasks may frequently change
