Training Specialist Advisor

Join General Dynamics IT and be a part of a team that solve some of the world's most complex technical challenges. TACTRACGRULANT’s Fleet Deployment Training Program Support (FDTPS) team is seeking a Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) Exercise Lead Support with expertise in Fleet Synthetic Training to join their team in Virginia Beach, VA.

The FDTPS team provides dynamic, quality afloat training to Navy and Marine Corps personnel to ensure a combat ready force capable of performing a broad spectrum of maritime missions. Special emphasis is placed on training Carrier and Expeditionary Strike Groups and Amphibious Squadrons staffs and their supporting forces prior to a deployment to ensure they are combat ready.

Duties include:

  • Provide lead support to USFF/TTGL in matters of program and policy pertaining to training of USN units, Strike Group or Task Forces in strategic and regional BMD operations to include joint and coalition BMD capabilities and the communications systems and requirements for air defense and BMD training.

  • Provide subject matter expertise of Aegis BMD weapon system capabilities, global missile defense, and BMD requirements specializing in maritime force capabilities including roles, responsibilities, and functions of U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM)/ Joint Functional Component Command for Integrated Missile Defense (JFCC-IMD), U.S. Northern Command (USNORTHCOM), and other CCDRs as required.

  • Provide knowledge of all ground-based midcourse defense (GMD) elements, Aegis Ashore program, Theater Area Air Defense Commander (AADC), Air Operations Center (AOC), and Army Patriot/Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) standard operational procedures and simulation systems.

  • Provide government representative/stakeholders with support and expertise in BMD doctrine, TTPs in all missions, homeland defense/Long Range Surveillance and Tracking (LRS&T), theater/regional active defense, and Sea-Based Terminal (SBT) defense.

  • Provide lead assistance to government representative/stakeholders in coordination with NFCs, TYCOMs, SYSCOMs, Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC); OPNAV and other Joint and DOD agencies in matters relating to air defense and BMD training, including communications and doctrine.

  • Assist in the development of training requirements for air defense, BMD and communications, including development of NMETs/JMETs.

  • Assist in development and modification of training policy documents and instructions.

  • Assist in the delivery of expert academic and operational instruction in BMD systems, TTPs, doctrine and best practices to fleet personnel.

  • Perform duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 8 years relevant experience (10 years if no Bachelor’s degree)

  • Top Secret / Sensitive Compartment Information level eligible

  • Five (5) years’ experience at the senior instructor/evaluator level on a Strike Group or Navy Fleet Command staff or equivalent DoD staff in a leadership position involving Ballistic Missile Defense

  • Two (2) years’ experience as JSAF operator is desired but not required
