Navy Federal Credit Union Manager, Lending Strategic Finance in Vienna, Virginia
Overview
To plan and manage the reporting and analyses of Lending’s strategic investments to drive growth. The role will focus on long-term goals to ensure Lending’s overall financial health as well as integration within the organization’s member centered focus and cross-functional initiatives. Work is performed under general direction with the Manager driving the development and execution of deliverables. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in Finance, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record of effectively managing financial operations.
Responsibilities
Lead the preparation/review of all Lending investment proposals with a dual focus on strategy (both the company’s growth objectives and integration with the Member Strategy Office) and financial impact (return on investment and other financial implications).
Collaborate with the product owners and various support teams including technology, risk, enterprise project management, and procurement to create business cases with a focus on the financial implications of the department’s strategic initiatives.
Lead the preparation of various financial analysis around impact to net income utilizing tools such as NPV, cash flow projections, ROI, sensitivity analysis, cost/benefit trade-offs, etc. for senior management to inform strategic business decisions and get buy-in around decisions.
Prepare monitoring and evaluation of Lending investments over time relative to the original proposal for goals and financial impact.
Analyze complex financial information and reports to identify areas of concern and provide accurate and timely financial recommendations to senior management for decision making purposes
Provide consultative support for financial matters for all Lending product and support teams
Provide insight to senior management regarding financial impacts of external and internal environment changes on different Lending products/services/channels.
Prepare summaries, analyses, reports, charts, graphs, instructions, and manuals/reference materials for inclusion in ad hoc and required reports including inputs for President’s Committee Monthly Financial Reviews to support decision making and optimize resource allocation.
Identify and assess financial risks and assist in developing strategies to mitigate them.
Foster cross-functional collaboration and communication to ensure alignment across departments.
Collaborate with the central Finance team to incorporate Lending’s strategic initiatives into the organization’s long-term planning.
Manage business reporting and ensure analytics and reporting tools are in place to achieve optimal results
Maintain thorough knowledge of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and Navy Federal policies and procedures
Ensure compliance with internal and external documentation and disclosure requirements
Provide leadership and guidance to the analysts, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement:
Ensure adequate/skilled staffing; select employees
Establish performance goals and priorities
Prepare, conduct and review performance appraisals
Develop, mentor and counsel staff
Ensure efficiency of operations
Supervise daily activities
Perform other duties assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in finance or a related field or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Adaptability and willingness to embrace change and innovation in financial processes and technology.
Significant experience in leading and managing a financial analytics operation, preferably with a focus in planning for a large financial services organization
Proven leadership abilities, with a track record of building and motivating high-performing teams.
Ability to work independently, create items from scratch and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Finance roles, with at least 2 years in a managerial capacity.
Advanced knowledge of applicable federal and state laws, rules and regulations
Advanced knowledge of banking/financial industry trends, products and services
Significant experience in the application of statistical methods, mathematical techniques, forecasting, cost-benefit analysis and related analytical tools
Advanced skill working with financial accounting systems used in the management and analysis of financial data
Significant experience interpreting and applying accounting principles
Significant experience applying techniques used in analyzing and reporting financial information
Significant experience in delivering presentations to virtual and in person teams
Advanced skill building effective relationships through rapport, trust, diplomacy and tact
Significant experience managing multiple priorities independently and/or in a team environment to achieve goals
Significant experience working with all levels of staff, management, stakeholders, and vendors
Advanced skill to influence, negotiate & persuade to reach agreeable exchange and positive outcomes
Advanced skill exercising initiative and using good judgment to make sound decisions
Advanced organizational, planning and time management skills
Advanced analytical thinking skills to include summarizing information and clearly identifying key elements, patterns, results or relationships

Desired Qualifications
Master’s degree in Finance or a related field
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM
