Navy Federal Credit Union ETS Principal Cloud Architect (Digital Banking) in Vienna, Virginia

Overview

As a Portfolio and Product Architect, you will provide strategic architectural guidance within the assigned domains, ensuring that portfolio and product architectures are aligned with enterprise strategy and roadmaps. You will leverage industry standards and frameworks, adopt modern, cloud-native architectures to enable business innovation and deliver transformative experiences to our members. You are a professional with the experience and acumen to navigate a matrixed organization with diverse stakeholders. Collaboration with Portfolio Managers and Product Owners is key, as you collectively work towards reshaping our Business and Technology landscape to meet evolving demands and stay ahead of the market.

Responsibilities

  • Develop product portfolio strategies and multi-year roadmaps in collaboration with key stakeholders in a product-oriented operating model.

  • Lead architecture design sessions, document current / target-state, transition architectures and make suitable recommendations for future-state direction based on evolving industry best practices and practical considerations around Navy Federal’s business needs.

  • Experience in software architecture and API-led integration in delivering digital experiences leveraging digital banking, marketing, and integration platforms to deliver Omnichannel capabilities.

  • Develop architectural documentation and/or artifacts for use in business and technology initiatives, decision support, product evaluation and knowledge transfer.

  • Develop and apply architectural reference patterns that guide the selection, development, implementation, and use of information technology within the enterprise, IaaS, SaaS, and PaaS ecosystems.

  • Enforce enterprise architecture standards and facilitate architectural governance based on business and information technology strategies.

  • Collaborate on architecture reviews to assess the integrity and quality of proposed technical solutions.

  • Identify and provide recommendations for the acceptance or mitigation of any issues and risks associated with requirements, proposed solutions, architectural designs, implementation plans and timelines.

  • Provide thought leadership in technology transformation, business practices, market trends and best practices.

  • Anticipate and plan for internal and/or external business challenges (i.e., Regulatory, Compliance), with the ability to recommend process, product, or service enhancements.

  • Build and maintain relationships with peers, leadership, key stakeholders, vendors contacts, etc.

  • Guide and mentor ETS Architect I & II as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Experience architecting and delivering solutions across multiple architecture domains (technology, application, business, information).

  • Prior experience in Web/Mobile Application, UI/UX design and development, APIs, Cloud / SaaS application integration and use of AI services to power banking solutions.

  • Demonstrated experience of designing and advising on enterprise-wide infrastructure technologies supported in a multitude of deployment locations and ecosystems including PaaS, SaaS, IaaS, etc.

  • Demonstrated experience with cloud computing, hosting, and managed services constructs to effectively architect and transition on-premises solutions to the cloud.

  • Cloud Computing experience with any service provider like Azure, AWS or GCP.

  • Experience architecting for large scale enterprise transformation (e.g., cloud migration, mainframe to modern architecture, monolithic to microservices, etc.).

  • Significant experience in communicating technical concepts and practices effectively at all levels, including non-technical audiences, adjusting as needed to a target audience.

  • Demonstrated experience facilitating review and validation of architecture designs by technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Demonstrated experience interpreting and executing on architecture designs into IT solutions and roadmaps to achieve specific business outcomes.

  • Demonstrated experience in performing analysis – including business process, Fit/Gap, systems, and discovery.

  • Proficient in innovative thinking and problem-solving to create original concepts and approaches for products.

  • Proficient verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team within a matrixed environment.

  • Significant experience in utilizing various development and operations framework methodologies including Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and/or Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL).

  • Significant experience in translating business needs and requirements into comprehensive, useful, and clear architecture designs (e.g., logical architecture, system interaction, etc.) and artifacts.

  • Significant experience in leading, guiding and mentoring professional staff.

  • Experience in managing multiple priorities independently and/or in a team environment to achieve goals.

  • Advanced skill using analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges and identify patterns of software quality and reusability.

  • Significant experience with Service Oriented Architectures.

  • Significant experience with The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) v.9, or relevant architecture framework.

Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Microsoft Azure and/or AWS Solution Architect certification(s).

  • Relevant Business and IT Architecture Certifications such as TOGAF, SAFe, COBIT, ITIL, etc.

  • Familiarity with banking and financial industry standards and practices.

  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance-related mandates such as CCPA and GDPR.

  • Familiarity with Navy Federal functions, philosophy, operations, and organizational objectives.

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM
