Otak Inc. Structural Engineer in Vancouver, Washington

Otak is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join our team!

Our Structural Engineer collaborates with architects, building owners and builders to design elegant solutions for projects of all types, sizes and levels of complexity. From designing facilities at national parks, community transit services, site development structures and major expansion projects, we continually seek the best balance among the demands of form, function, sustainability, constructability, schedule and budget.

The primary duty of the Structural Engineer will include serving as a technical expert in engineering analysis and design for all structural aspects in support of architecturally designed and site development structures, perform complex structural planning, and develop a background of technical expertise on these types of projects. Other duties also include working with junior designers and technical staff in the performance of engineering tasks.

This position may be based out of our Vancouver, WA or Portland, OR office.

What you'll do:

  • Lead structure designers/technicians in development of plans and calculations for buildings.
  • Perform design services matching local, state and federal design standards, especially National Parks Service/Federal standards.
  • Prepare and lead preparation of construction plans using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Prepare specifications and cost estimates.
  • Plan and coordinate projects with limited supervision.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining schedules for product delivery.
  • Provide construction support services.
  • Perform other structures related design tasks as assigned.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Registered Professional Engineer license is required. Structural Licensure is encouraged and preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in all aspects of building structural engineering working directly with architecture and public Clients.
  • Solid client service skills are required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, current structural software applications.
  • Familiarity with applicable Codes, including specialty codes such as the Oregon Structures Specialty Code, Washington State Building Code, etc.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work with various teams throughout the organization.
  • Occasional travel to client site in Camas, WA, is required.

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate experience, qualifications, and work location as well as market and business considerations. Salary range: $90,000 - $120,000 per year
