Chief Financial Officer

Utah County, UT

Our client, a private-equity-backed, high-growth company in Utah County, is seeking a talented and strategic CFO. This leader will be responsible for managing, overseeing, and improving all financial and accounting functions of the organization. This person will also lead financial reporting, management accounting, budgeting and forecasting, cash flow monitoring, debt covenant calculations, lender relationships, BOD communications, and payroll.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and improve all financial reporting activities, including monthly/quarterly/annual close processes, review of reconciliations and financial statements, and writing MD&A

  • Oversee and improve internal management accounting and reporting

  • Oversee cash management, including cash reconciliation, reports, and forecasts

  • Develop and prepare weekly dashboard reports to track interim performance

  • Enhance, develop, and implement processes, tools, and systems to provide critical financial and operational information that supports both strategy implementation and ongoing operations

  • Work with the sales and operations teams to understand the timing of revenue for existing business and pipeline prospects for future revenue

  • Support and coordinate satisfactory audit preparations, reviews, and results, ensuring proper filing of all applicable tax returns

  • Communicate directly with the Board and lenders to provide financial information as needed and resolve any issues

  • Support coordination and good communication between the executive team and the Board

  • Provide debt covenant compliance reporting, anticipating any areas of concern

  • Prepare and present financial components of monthly operations reviews, board meeting packages, and executive team meetings

  • Prepare, review, communicate, and analyze variances from the annual budget and prior year performance

  • Maintain appropriate internal controls and financial procedures

Experience and Skills:

  • 8+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience in roles of increasing leadership and responsibility

  • Demonstrated financial leadership ability, team management, and interpersonal skills; excellent analytical reasoning and organizational skills; and excellent written and verbal communication skills are required

  • Hands-on experience producing management reporting to improve visibility and drive performance, developing KPI’s and implementing financial best practices, and developing forecasting solutions that integrate sales, operations, and finance is needed

  • Need to have a scalable management style with an ability to lead by example and a willingness to “roll-up your sleeves” when necessary

  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude

  • Deep and extensive knowledge of finance and accounting best practices is required; must be technically proficient in US GAAP

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting or finance or MBA is strongly preferred; CPA is strongly preferred

  • Prior experience in a finance-related role of a private equity-owned business is preferred

  • Previous experience managing lender relationships and working with debt covenants is preferred
