JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Senior Associate Director is a valuable Morgan Academic Center (MAC) team member. This position will assist with advancing the university and Morgan Academic Center's strategic plan and objectives. Reporting to the Director of the Morgan Academic Center, this individual will provide leadership and direction for the overall student-athlete academic success, emphasizing internal processes to ensure the success of all student-athletes.

The position will oversee assigned full-time staff, assist with managing the day-to-day internal operations and initiatives, and work with a caseload of assigned student-athletes. It will also provide staff direction in coordinating student programming to promote retention and graduation and serve as a passionate advocate for student success.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director with managing the day-to-day internal operations of the Morgan Academic Center

  • Provide staff direction in coordinating programming for students to promote retention and graduation while serving as a passionate advocate for student success

  • Demonstrate leadership skills and proficiency in administering academic support programming to prepare student-athletes for life after post-secondary education and demonstrate an understanding of student development

  • Utilize data to inform interventions, explicitly focusing on student sub-populations determined by data and objectives to align with the Morgan academic center and the university's strategic plans

  • Guide the development and assessment of student success outcomes, including metrics that may be leading indicators of student retention and persistence

  • Serve on committees as assigned by the Director of the Morgan Academic Center

  • Create effective systems to refer and connect students with relevant college resources - coordinate with colleges and other stakeholders as necessary for outreach and support

  • Develop and implement an academic advisor training and compliance orientation for direct reports

  • Coordinate with colleges and other stakeholders as necessary for outreach and support

  • Work cooperatively with campus academic advisors in advising student-athletes to meet degree requirements

  • Document and report on proactive outreach faculty/instructor semester grade campaigns through Gradefirst – Teamworks Academics tracking system

  • Meet weekly with assigned student-athletes and report progress to appropriate constituents

  • Communicate with coaches regarding any academic functions, policies, and procedures

  • Monitor graduation progress and respond to any requests for information regarding student-athlete's degree progress

  • Formulate academic success plans for student-athletes experiencing academic difficulty

  • Assist in monitoring the study hall

The successful candidate must be willing to work irregular hours, nights, and weekends, including travel with assigned teams.

Required qualifications:

  • Minimally requires a Master's Degree and 10+ years of relevant experience, including 3+ years of supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Must be able to work effectively with a diverse student population, have excellent communication and organizational skills

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in sports management, counseling, social work, student development, higher education, psychology, or related field is preferred

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills

  • Excellent conflict resolution, project management, business management, and human relations skills

  • Must be organized, detail-oriented, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision

    This position requires the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance F orm, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$76,700.00 - $115,100.00
