Whirlpool Corporation Tool & Die Support Technician in Tulsa, Oklahoma

Currently, we are seeking qualified candidates for Tool and Die Maker positions to join our Tulsa, Oklahoma manufacturing location. The positions and shifts we have available are as follows:

Weekend shift - Friday through Sunday 5:00am to 5:30pm

1st shift - Monday through Thursday 4:45am to 3:15pm

Hourly Pay Rate for Position: $34.35

Position Overview

In this position, you will be developing, constructing and repairing a variety of intricate tools, sheet metal dies, gauges, and other machinery. This role is expected to diagnose and detect faulty operations or defective material and take corrective action. In this role you will work from tooling prints, blueprints and broad general instructions where details must be determined from drawings, production parts, or product drawings. This could involve considerable tool development and experimental work, the ability to visualize the finished job, making necessary mathematical calculations and determine the allowance for metal flo, shrinkage, etc,. The position must recognize design errors that would interfere with producing or checking parts or equipment, work to and maintain extremely close tolerances using a wide variety of precision measuring instruments. This role will make decisions as to clearances, mechanism details, and the development of form and contours and draws, perform bench and machine operation of all types involving a variety of unusual and complex setups and machining methods, and highly skilled assembly operations. The position is expected to be able to apply heat treatment to ferrous materials.

This role is also responsible for undertaking production activities to transform tangible inputs (e.g. raw materials or semi-finished goods) or intangible inputs (e.g. ideas, information, know how) into finished products or services. The position may be involved in setting-up, calibrating and operating machines and equipment, supervision of arrangements, monitoring resources, following production schedules and quality standards, monitoring production processes and troubleshooting production problems.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be able to use advanced shop mathematics, read highly complicated drawings, use a variety of measuring tools

  • Be able to continually lift material weighing between 5-35 lbs and also frequent lifting of 35-60 lbs

  • High school diploma or GED

  • 5 years experience in sheet metal tool and die

  • 5 years experience using typical tool room machinery

Preferred Requirements

  • Be able to plan and perform unusual and difficult work where only general methods are available

  • Ability to instruct other people, and assign/coordinate work

  • Apprenticeship Program completion, Journey person’s card, and/or have a minimum of five years related industrial experience
