Navistar, Inc. Mechanical Engineer in Tulsa, Oklahoma

Position Overview

The Mechanical Engineer will work under the supervision of the more experienced team members and the Chassis Engineering Manager. The Engineer will provide support for Diesel and EV bus on the manufacturing floor helping to identify design iterations and developing improvements to aid in increasing manufacturing capability and throughput while being mindful of cost impacts. They will develop interim and permanent corrective actions for issues found in the production environment that need updated or corrected. They will also aid in Product Development plant trials to aid design integration into the production process.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and information to production team to ensure product integrity

  • Work with the production and manufacturing teams to identify corrective actions for issues found

  • Work to increase manufacturing capability, lower costs, and reduce complexity

  • Conduct plant trials to validate design changes integrate into the production process

  • Release design changes to correct identified issues

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science

OR

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science and will obtain degree prior to first day of employment

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)

Desired Skills

  • Positive Attitude, Ethics and International Values which support our company’s values, and a healthy, high performance culture

  • Experience with 3D CAD software

  • Basic understanding of dimensioning 2D drawings

  • Basic understanding of CAE and material properties

  • Excellent oral, written, and communication skills

  • High level of computer literacy – Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)

  • Hands on mechanical experience is also a plus (Mechanic, tradesman, construction, etc.)
