SERV Behavioral Health System Maintenance Worker in Trenton, New Jersey

JOB SUMMARY:

Competent in assessing and performing quality work on a priority basis to maintain the safety and function of all facilities, equipment and vehicles within the assigned project.

The Maintenance worker will follow the direction of the Facilities manager as well as assess, organize and prioritize all duties in order to operate in the most efficient and effective manner in completing work assignments. The maintenance worker must be flexible and available on an as needed basis for emergencies. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • General repair and maintenance, light plumbing and electrical work, painting, carpentry, vehicle maintenance and minor repair work.

  • Ground maintenance, interior and exterior cleaning of facilities, if needed, cleaning and washing of vehicles, prep of client apartments.

  • Move-ins, lifting and moving furniture, equipment and supplies, and a ssisting the facilities manager, meeting deliveries and service contractors, transporting supplies, equipment, furniture, purchasing maintenance supplies, on-call response for facility emergencies, completes work orders, mileage sheets, invoices, time sheets and other paperwork in a timely fashion, handles petty cash responsibly and turns in receipts and change.

  • Function independently, sort, assess and prioritize work orders, communicates clearly as to issues, problems, daily schedule, and assessment of need for additional help or outside contractor for projects.

  • Performs other duties as may, from time-to-time, be deemed appropriate by the supervisor.

    EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL & ABILITY:

  •   High school diploma or GED. Vocational school or technical training in maintenance and repair or construction trade preferred.

  • Valid driver’s license in state of residence. Plus, three-year driving history and a driving record that complies with Corporate Transportation Safety Standards.

  •  Knowledge and experience in general maintenance and repair.

  • Experience in maintenance and general contracting including carpentry, plumbing, electrical operation of power and hand tools.

  • Mobility and ability to bend and reach during an eight-hour day.

  • Able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds; be able to move furniture up and down stairs.

  • Be able to climb ladders, visual and auditory sufficiency to assess facility repair and maintenance needed to drive a vehicle safely.

  • Fine motor skills for handling tools and making small repairs.

  • Ability to handle power and hand tools safely.

  • Ability to work an 8–10-hour day with the ability to be on-call, for emergencies.
