The Mix Room Supervisor directly supervises sanitation employee efforts in a manner that will result in production of consistently high quality product in an efficient manner. The Mix Room Supervisor will coordinate mix room activities and mix utilization on a daily basis. The Mix Room Supervisor will serve as a focal point for all daily sanitation issues. This will involve direct coordination between shifts, as well as issues relating to sanitation, production, planning, quality control, maintenance, load out and equipment set-up/utilization. This includes planning, assigning and directing work, coordinating weekly Continuous Improvement (CI) meetings, addressing product and employee complaints and resolving problems. This person carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s policies, OSHA regulations and applicable laws while following all CI processes and the Management Operating Structure (MOS). Works with plant management and other supervisory staff to assign, direct, review and monitor work of supervised staff to maximize productivity in the plant.

  • Develop and monitor daily mix planning and tank utilization.

  • Monitor and control formula accuracy, execution and ingredient utilization.

  • Ensures proper procedures are in place and being followed for production efficiency, quality of product, employee safety, and state and federal guidelines.

  • Routinely inspect equipment cleaning, monitor CIP equipment and circulation programming. Insure effective cleaning and efficient use of chemicals, time and water.

  • Supervise programs for sanitation and housekeeping.

  • Execute the daily clean-up/sanitation/set-up plan to insure quality

  • Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup and adjustments to machines.

  • Coordinates schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignments.

  • Recommends improvements to production & Sanitation methods, equipment performance and quality of product.

  • Analyzes and resolves work problems (coli), or assists workers in solving work problems.

  • Maintains time and production & Sanitation records as required.

  • Collaborates with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.

  • Provides supervision of assigned employees in scheduling and daily activities, ensuring effective selection, retention, feedback, disciplinary action and performance management.

  • Trains and instructs employees regarding sanitation and equipment standards and processes. Oversees instruction, implementation and enforcement of policies as they relate to employees.

  • Leads by example with the Dairy Farmers of America Code of Ethics. This includes following Company policies, standards and specifications.

  • Engages in the typical responsibilities of a manager requiring planning, evaluating, organizing, integrating and delegating.

  • Ensures all SPM (Sanitation Preventative Maintenance) assignments are completed up to corporate goal standard.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or a minimum of 2 years plant experience.

  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices

  • Experience leading and following Safety/Security Policies and Procedures.

  • Proficient in computer-based applications.

  • Ability to follow all Sanitation and Quality Policies and Procedures, and report and follow through on any deficiencies.

  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills.

  • Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs; ability to lead others through change.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Skill in organization and prioritization, and attention to detail.

  • Strong team player and leader with the ability to work across multiple functions and disciplines.

  • Ability to select, coach, develop, engage and retain a team of employees.
