SUMMARY:Provide information, guidance, training, and assistance to Significant Support Needs teachers and school administrators through observations, reviewing of records, attending meetings, side-by-side coaching, data collection, and consultation. Assist with the development of data collection systems, IEP development, para management/scheduling, curricular modifications and data analysis of individual students, classrooms, or schools in order to support students with Significant Support Needs. Provide professional development for classroom teachers, administration, paraprofessionals, and related service providers on Extended Evidence Outcomes, behavior management, assessment, crisis management, data collection, and analysis as related to students with significant support needs, Autism Spectrum disorders, and serious medical needs. Assist teachers and building support staff in incorporating assistive technology as needed to increase student independence and positive outcomes. Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of specialized programming and staff development. Collaborate with other district members, community services, outside providers, school based teams, administrators, and problem solving teams.

EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:

• Must be a minimum of 18 years old.

• Bachelor’s degree.

• Minimum of three (3) years experience teaching in an SSN (severe/profound) classroom at the elementary level.

• Assistive Technology background preferred.

• Experience in a leadership role preferred.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS:

• CDE Licensure as a Special Education Teacher (generalist, severe/profound)

• Must hold a valid Colorado teachers license with endorsement in, or be highly qualified in, specified core content area.

• Preference given to candidates with ELL Training and/or an ESL or (LDE) Linguistically Diverse Education Endorsement.

• Criminal background check required for hire.

SALARY INFORMATION (FOR EXTERNAL CANDIDATES):

All salary placement on our Certified Salary schedule (https://www.adams12.org/our-district/careers/teach) is dependent on the employees’ education and/or work experience.

Special programs teachers of students with significant support needs, structured learning services or affective needs, audiologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, school nurses, school psychologists, school social workers, and speech language pathologists shall receive experience credit for each full year of previous experience and are not limited to ten (10) years as described in Appendix A, Item 3.

Additionally, one (1) step for each full year, as described in this Appendix, of service in the district as a contracted certified, classified, in-building substitute, and/or administrative employee for educators beginning a new certified contract or returning to a certified contract.
