Job Description

AECOM is seeking an early-career Civil Engineer, with a background and interest in Civil Site Development, to be part of a collaborative project team in Tampa, FL. In this role the person will participate in all aspects of a project, from project identification through conceptual and final designs as well as participate in supporting activities during the construction phase.

The responsibilities of this position include, but may not be limited to, the following:

  • Working with civil engineers in preparing computer aided designs for the civil aspects of projects (facility siting and layouts, grading, drainage systems, utilities, and site features)

  • Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with all professionals on the team to effectively manage every aspect of each project

  • Coordinating project requirements and features with other civil designers as well as a multi-disciplined professional team including architecture, structural, electrical, mechanical, fire protection, environmental, landscape, and cost estimating

  • Preparing project drawings and exhibits using AutoCAD and Civil3D

  • Participating in site field investigations and assessments along with client / user interviews to identify project needs, constraints, and opportunities

  • Researching and identifying governing criteria, codes, and best practices, and prepare basis of design documentation

  • Performing assignments related to planning, design, and construction phase services on multi-discipline projects following standard practices, and allowing development of professional work knowledge and abilities

  • Participating in construction support activities including reviewing submittals, responding to contractor clarification requests, and performing site inspections

  • Preparing civil engineering evaluations, reports, analyses, and designs for existing and new facilities and other related opportunities

  • Performing interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS plus 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Demonstrated experience with site development (layouts, grading and utilities)

  • Experience using one or more of the following site design software such as Civil3D, Auto Turn, GeoPak, ICPR and/or GIS

  • Experience using MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Due to the nature of work, US Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering degree

  • Current EIT is helpful

  • Experience preparing design calculations and design documents (reports, plans, and specifications)

  • Experience with one or more of the following: site layouts and grading, utility designs, roadways and parking lots, erosion control and shoreline stabilization, storm water management, demolition, surveying, and construction support services

Additional Information

  • Capable of passing a government security background check for access to Department of Defense facilities and other similar sites/buildings

  • Hybrid work-model that requires 3-days per week in the office

  • Willingness to travel (typically less than three days per month)

  • Sponsorship is not available for this role

  • Relocation support is not available for this position

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $68,700.00 - $100,000.00.
