Description
Are you an experienced accountant with a keen eye for accuracy? Robert Half has an exciting opportunity for a Staff Accountant at a rapidly-growing organization in the Wholesale Distribution industry that you should check out! This is career-building opportunity is located in the Syracuse, New York region and offered on a long-term contract / temporary basis. The duties of Staff Accountant include fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, general ledger reconciliation, journal entries, and the preparation of monthly and year-end closings. This position spends a fair amount of time producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. You'll also have responsibility over various aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. You'll also be reviewing schedules for the reporting processes, communicating with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and playing an active role in compliance.

Be a part of various initiatives spanning multiple departments
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed
Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Help with the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Play a role in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
Prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Perform month end close, journal entries with minimum supervision
Maintain monthly payment schedules
Oversee the creation of monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for reporting to management
Commentate on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner

Requirements
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Competent with spreadsheets and databases
Self-starter and strong ethical standards
Fully formed organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Skilled with ERP systems
Experience with journal entries
Proven knowledge of Ledger Journal Entries
General ledger experience desired
Well-founded grasp of Month-end Journal Entries
Expertise in General Ledger System
Account analysis experience preferred
Deep understanding of bank reconciliations
Recent and relevant accounting experience
Attentive, ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines
Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity
Distinguished analytical, quantitative and social skills
