Position Summary :

The Manager of Physician Practice is responsible for the efficient daily operations of assigned office. Reporting to the Director, is responsible for hiring and supervising support staff, oversees day- to -day practice operations including maintenance of medical records, human resource management, property and facilities, equipment, billing and adheres to OSHA, JCAHO and DOH requirements. The Manager of Physician Practice will perform all job functions in a courteous and professional manner consistent with the St. Joseph’s Health/Trinity Health Core Values.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in Management or related field. Masters Degree preferred.

  • At least five (5) years successful management experience in a hospital or a medical office practice.

  • Manages between 20 and 50 inpatient provider FTEs across multiple service lines and/or hospitals

  • Proficiency with Electronic Medical Record.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

  • Excellent attention to detail and organization.

  • Effective speaking and writing skills.

  • Commitment to confidentiality and respect.

  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

  • Understand and embrace a customer service focus.

  • Ability to work independently, yet function collaboratively within a team.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

General Practice Manager Responsibilities

  • Working closely with administration, serve as liaison between administration and physicians.

  • Serve as liaison between physicians and all other departments as required to meet operating needs.

  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with Directors, Managers, and others and participate positively and pro-actively on operations and management committees.

  • Provide human resource management services for covered sites including but not limited to:

  • recruitment, department orientation and day to day support.

  • review and approve time sheets for payroll processing

  • address performance and/or behavior issues appropriately

  • facilitate annual performance evaluations

  • arrange schedules and coverage to ensure smooth operation and patient care, communicate practice news, changes and other information as needed

  • involve the human resources department appropriately in employee relations issues

  • coach, counsel and support employees and lead by example.

  • Provide back up in the absence of other St. Joseph’s Physicians management personnel.

  • Work closely with administration, finance, human resources, and compliance/QA to communicate and execute practice-wide policies and procedures.

  • Attend and participate in all required physician and management meetings and training sessions.

  • Work closely with finance regarding monthly financial statements and site financial performance. Share information with physicians in a positive and professional manner.

  • Serve as a resource for physicians and staff with regard to EMR system.

  • Coordinate activities related to physician office participation in available incentive programs including mandatory education, certification renewal, quality metric.

  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations as appropriate.

  • Work cooperatively with all team members to ensure quality service at all times.

  • Communicate respectfully and effectively with providers, clinical staff, colleagues,

management staff and others.

  • Participates in daily huddles

  • Adhere to employment guidelines at all times.

  • Perform mandatory in-service training including but not limited to OSHA and harassment. Maintains a clean and safe work environment.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Anesthesia Staffing & Scheduling

  • Work closely with Chief of Anesthesia to create the monthly staffing schedule ensuring full coverage of all anesthetizing sites, and skill sets match assignments

  • Creation of providers schedule; strategizing and flexing staff to provider full coverage of the service to reduce and prevent locums utilization.

  • Coordinate and communicate schedule changes to physicians, managers and administration.

  • Maintain on-call schedule and ensure all ancillary departments have up to date on call information for emergent after-hours procedures

Anesthesia Revenue Cycle Management

  • Work closely with the medical staff credentialing & payer credentialing departments to ensure timely submission of applications and documents.

  • Work closely with Revenue Integrity to review Anesthesia billing and chart errors and ensure corrections are complete timely

  • Facilitate monthly meetings with billing company to ensure KPIs are achieved, and assist with any internal barriers to billing & collections

Pay Range: $37.60-$56.40 based on experience.
