Lockheed Martin Vehicle Test Ops Asc Technician in Sunnyvale, California

Description: IAM Hourly represented employees who currently work at the main (Sunnyvale/Palo Alto) unit, Santa Cruz, VAFB or Eastern Range facilities must apply to open requisitions on Brass Ring to be considered for the position.

Where guidance and assistance are available, assist in vehicle assembly, modification, and integration through ambient, environmental systems and other vehicle tests,

working with progressively less guidance and assistance as time on the job increases. Assist in performance of installation and testing of vehicle components and systems electrical/mechanical hardware. Assist in verification of a variety of test procedures and perform in-process and acceptance verification of flight hardware.

Assist in support of integration of electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical vehicle hardware including component installation and structural assembly and modification Perform thermal material preparations and installations on vehicle hardware.

Perform mechanical operations, including movement of vehicle hardware and equipment using overhead cranes and air-bearing systems. Handle flight hardware using unique ground support equipment.

Perform electrical and mechanical preparations for, and assist in support of ambient and environmental systems tests such as integrated systems test, pyro-shock test, acoustic test, and thermal/vacuum test. Assist in instrument installation and operation of electrical testing equipment, pneumatic systems testing, flight hardware deployments, and manual testing. Assist in installation of breakout boxes, breakout cables, and instrumentation to troubleshoot test set-ups and hardware involved in tests. Fabricate, modify, and install wire harness assemblies.

Assist in verification of installation and hookup of test devices, test equipment, test complexes, and recording control instrumentation, as well as vehicle assembly operations. Ensure completeness and accuracy of appropriate test data and records.

May support launch base propellant handling and vehicle fueling including Self-Contained Atmospheric Protective Ensemble (SCAPE) or similar operations.

Basic Qualifications:

This classification is designed to accommodate individuals who meet the mechanical

knowledge and ability requirements, but do not have the required electronics background. Candidates should accept a position in this classification ONLY if they are committed to successfully completing a two-year program in electronics or aerospace technology from a junior college or technical institute and achieve the minimum requirements for the Vehicle Test Operations Technician (367-3) classification.

Normally requires completion of a two-year program in mechanical technology from a

junior collage or technical institute, or equivalent experience.

Ability to interpret and follow verbal directions and completed engineering documents such as engineering drawings and sketches, materials and processes specifications, test requirements specifications, and test procedures and instructions.

Certification for applicable process certifications such as solder, crimp, and structural bonding, and for hoisting and moving equipment including bridge crane and Personnel Aerial Lift Devices (PALD) may be required.

Certification for Self-Contained Atmospheric Protective Equipment (SCAPE) may be

required.

Employees in this classification must show evidence of completed course work upon

completion of each course. An employee will not be held in this classification for a period greater than five years. The Company shall have the right to promote prior to the expiration of five years, if in its opinion, the employee is qualified for such upgrade.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.

Desired Skills:

• Certified or experienced on building and handling Ordnance/Pyro.

• Be able to operate the following equipment: Personal Aerial Lift Device (PALD), Forklift, and Overhead Crane.

• Proficiency in a hands-on task; Harness Build (Routing, Solder, and Crimp), and Installation/removal of component.

• Basic knowledge in performing electronic troubleshooting.

• Comfortable working in a fast paced and dynamic multi-disciplinary environment.

• Ability to support multiple shifts for mission critical events/operation that may require extended hours or weekend supports.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: Standard Monday to Friday 40 hour work week

"The base range for this position in California is $25.55 - 45.71.
