Nursing Assistant Training Program Coordinator

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:   

· Prepare the initial the CNA training program application package for submission to the state for approval.

· Instruct and evaluate students in the classroom, nursing lab and clinical sites.

· Contribute to the annual facility assessment as directed to ensure proper resources are allocated.

· Participate and assist in departmental studies and projects as assigned or that may become necessary including educational grants, case studies and research providing funding or support as directed.

· Participate in the selection and/or dismissal of instructors and administrative support personnel for the CNA training program in coordination with the Director of Nursing as appropriate.

· Assist in maintaining appropriate recordkeeping documents as outlined in the course specifications and as mandated by current federal and state requirements.

· Monitor, track and document the total number of hours of training the students receive in both theory and clinical and the related skills achieved upon completion of the student’s coursework.

· Maintain all forms and reports necessary to validate student attendance and performance in the course as required by regulation.

· Conduct prescreening of prospective students by conducting background checks and vetting of students as appropriate and as required by state and federal regulations.

· Participate in and/or assist facility in constructing class schedules, clinical training schedules, orientation programs and in-service training classes.

· Ensure that all nurse aide training students have up-to-date immunizations: tuberculosis (TB) skin test and hepatitis B series; maintain copies of immunization records and tests in the student file.

· Plan, develop, direct, evaluate and coordinate the educational curriculum for the CNA training program.

· Develop individualized assessments which accurately evaluate student’s needs and progress.

Required SkillsRequired Experience

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:   

· Must have, as a minimum, three (3) year(s) of experience as a supervisor in a hospital, nursing care facility or other related health care facility

· Must have, as a minimum, six (6) months training experience in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices.

· Must have completed a train-the-trainer program approved by the state.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:  

· Must possess, as a minimum, a nursing degree from an accredited college or university.
