DCS Corporation System Administrator in Sterling Heights, Michigan

The System Administrator will perform information technology Systems Administration of a network and limited core services to support the U.S. Army Ground Vehicle Systems Center (GVSC) Immersive Simulations (IS) organization. Essential Job Functions: Maintains smooth operation of moderately complex multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators. Installs new software releases and system upgrades. Evaluates and installs patches and resolves moderately complex software related problems. Applies DISA STIG configuration settings to system components. Uses systems management software to monitor servers and applications, troubleshooting problems and coordinating with other teams when problems occur. Supports application development project teams with the development of test servers, testing new system configurations and consulting on system performance issues. Tests and evaluates network hardware and software to determine compatibility with current systems. Performs equipment reviews and development of maintenance history. Supports site upgrades, site inspections, site audits, or other site evaluations. Develops and maintains system administration level documentation. Develops and monitors procedures and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources. Develops network, news, and host security policies. Assigns passwords and monitors uses of resources. Monitors network traffic and makes necessary recommendations for additional resources or hardware. Performs system backups and recovery. Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned in order to support the ongoing accreditation of the system. Required Skills: Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required. Must be able to obtain a Secret clearance. Bachelor's degree 5 years, or Master's degree 4 years of experience in a specialized field. The ideal candidate will have experience in networking and automation principles to isolate many technically disparate efforts with an intent to enable autonomy but still maintain compartmentalized security. The ideal candidate will have significant Linux or Windows experience, virtualization, and centralized logging / auditing (e.g. syslog, Splunk) experience. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to self-start and drive solutions independently, with ambition. Good analytical skills and attention to detail to support accurate and reliable documentation as required. Ability to work effectively both in a team environment and alone. Knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures used in systems administration. Active DoD 8570.1-M IAT II or IAT III baseline certification. () Active system administration computing environment certification, Windows or Linux (may be waived as a requirement so long as it can be procured within 6 months of hire date). Desired Skills: Experience with DoD systems, system networking components, security hardening, NIST controls, and systems scripting a plus.
