Raytheon Air & Space Defense Systems is looking for a part-time, temporary senior systems engineer with expertise in signal processing to include wave-form analysis, digital signals processing, and communications theory. This position requires strong systems engineering skills that include architecture of real time signal processing systems. The systems engineering (SE) subject matter expert (SME) will support classified signal processing programs and will engage multiple organizations to design, develop, and implement signal processing techniques and algorithms. The SME will be responsible for helping develop solutions that satisfy Customer’ novel requirements and standardizing the processes for these solutions. SME responsibility includes mentoring of Junior team members. This position is onsite in State College, Pennsylvania.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Support front end of the business for new signal processing business opportunities

  • Ability to develop strong technical relationships with Customers

  • Perform signal processing SE SME role on signal processing programs to ensure architectures satisfy all requirements

  • Guide efforts to develop new signal processing products/components that will support enhancing currently deployed signal processing systems

  • Provide technical support across signal processing programs

  • Guide development and implementation of the design of advanced new products

  • Coach, teach, and mentor to encourage and accelerate talent growth

  • Act independently and pro-actively seek to uncover and resolve issues

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires: A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 14 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree and minimum 12 years experience

  • Experience in COMINT field of signal processing, systems engineering, software engineering, and architecture of real-time signal processing systems

  • Must have an existing, active Top Secret SCI clearance with current SSBI on day 1

  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of single and multiple channel input signal processing techniques with understanding of and experience with multiple real time signal processing systems

  • In depth experience with signal detection, signal isolation (in co-channel interference environments), interference mitigation, waveform characterization and parameter estimation, multi-stream processing (e.g., complex ambiguity function and source separation), and geolocation observable extraction and location techniques

  • Experience with detailed technical analysis, computer simulation / modeling, and signal processing frameworks (e.g. MIDAS, MATLAB) for modeling and development of sophisticated signal processing algorithms

  • Software programming skills in modern SW languages

  • Experience supporting new business process and capture of related intelligence community signal processing programs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with twenty (20) years of prior relevant signal processing and systems engineering experience

  • In-depth signal processing system design experience

  • Experience in SW architectures, frameworks, and large scale real time processing

  • Work experience in the fields of computer technology, systems engineering, electrical engineering, software engineering, reverse engineering

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills with the ability to interact positively with coworkers, and customers in a team environment

This is a temporary position of an undetermined length.
