TheFinance &AdministrationLeadplays a critical role in managing the financial andadministrative aspects of theLaw and Compliance Department. The position combines financial acumenand familiarity with the department's operationsand working with counterparts in the company's financial planning, reporting, and accounts payable areas. Thisposition also oversees a team of administrative assistants and will be responsible for coreoperationalfunctions to the department, including knowledge management, onboarding new associates, and coordinating department technology and systems. Financial management: Develop projections for the annual budgeting cycles and forecasting processes Monitor expenses and provide regular reports to department leadership. Collaborate with enterprisefinance and accounting teams to ensure accurate budgeting, allocations, and payment of expenses. Process Improvement: Drive efficiency, streamlining processes, workflows, and procedures where possible. Analyze and improve business processes within the departmentwhile ensuring quality of service. Oversee and implement technology solutions to enhance efficiency (e.g., project management, e-billing, legal hold). Vendor relationships: Serve as primary billing and administrative contact for outside counsel and legal service vendors, Aid with engagement letters, conflicts review and waivers, rate negotiation, and optimization of quality for legal support. Supervision: Provide work direction and leadership to a team of administrative assistants. Training and mentorship, set performance goals and conduct performance evaluations. Coordinate administrative workloads, schedule, and coverage for the department. Background and Experience required: Bachelor's degreewithan applicable major (e.g., finance, business). Finance, operations, or consulting experience, preferably in a related field (e.g., legal, compliance). Commitment to strong standards of service and relationship building. Strong collaboration skills with an exceptional capacity for critical thinking and problem solving. Proactive communication skills and demonstrated ability to work with different audiences (e.g., management, legal staff, and business partners). Versatility, maturity, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team, to organize, plan, prioritize, and complete projects with competing deadlines. Preferred additional qualifications: Experience working with legal operations systems, including e-billing software (e.g., Legal Tracker), enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems (e.g., SAP), and legal hold software. Experience working with an in-house law department for a large company. Leadership experience. Financial services or insurance industry related experience. Experienced with process improvement, flexible working style, and adaptability to new technologies (strong inclination for continuous learning and self-improvement). This role requires you to live within a commutable distance (90 minutes) of our Home Office in downtown St. Paul. You'll join us 2-3 days each week in our offices to collaborate and build relationships. Our policy allows flexibility for the reality of business and personal schedules.
