WGL - Benefits and Wellness Manager

The Manager, Benefits and Wellness will be responsible to manage all benefits and wellness programs for employees, retirees, and their families in the U.S. and Canada. This position is accountable for the performance and results of the Benefits team and multiple vendors while ensuring alignment with strategic direction of the organization.

You Will:

  • Contribute to the advancement of the Human Resources department’s vision and mission

  • Partner with legal counsel, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures for benefit management and delivery, and recommend policy and procedure changes

  • Maintain metrics on benefit costs/trends and prepare recommendations for improvements and cost-saving measures

  • Manage open enrollment, renewal, and delivery of benefits

  • Manage a team of Benefits professionals

  • Establish, manage, and nurture effective business relationships with internal and external stakeholders

  • Lead negotiations and manage vendor relationships, performance, and contract processes to meet organizational goals

  • Manage competitive benefit and wellness programs that strengthen the organization’s ability to attract and retain employees and deliver desired results to the organization

  • Identify, implement, and evaluate clinical programs to manage participant health and lower costs

  • Analyze benefit plan results and initiate appropriate action to sustain desired benefit plan performance

  • Develop, manage, and monitor the benefits budget

  • Work effectively with actuaries and auditors

  • Integrate and make effective use of EAP, mental health, and other behavioral programs as part of overall employee wellness

  • Utilize disability and other absence management programs to positively impact attendance, productivity, and return-to-work programs

  • Manage defined contribution and defined benefit retirement plans

  • Develop new and enhance existing communication plans and resources that assist employees in making maximum use of benefit programs and improving their health

  • Leverage Workday and other benefits administrative systems and tools to provide effective management of benefit participation and cost data

  • Assist other HR staff by incorporating benefits, wellness, and total rewards into the talent acquisition and management process, training programs, and employee relations

  • Participate in and use published surveys in evaluating benefit and wellness programs for market comparisons

You Have:

  • 7+ Years in Benefits, Retirement, and/or other HR administration required

  • 5+ Years supervisory/management experience required

  • Working knowledge of contractual terms and conditions, including regulatory and compliance requirements

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize and multiple priorities is critical

  • Demonstrated ability to perform effectively in a fast paced environment, adhering to strict dead-lines and achieving objectives in a self- directed manner

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data provided by vendors and from corporate systems

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook and various HR systems

  • Project management and vendor management critical

  • Ability to meet numerous internal and external deadlines often under tight time constraints

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and aptitude for problem solving and analyzing processes

  • Prior experience managing multiple vendors

  • Prior wellness program planning strategy

  • Prior experience supporting Unions in various state/provinces

We offer a competitive salary range of $121,500.00 to $148,500.00 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and skills. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
