PeaceHealth is seeking a RN Inpatient Fellow Main OR for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Variable position. The general salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $38.92 – $74.26. The actual hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to, the job/position responsibilities, location, terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement, education, training, work experience, seniority, work performance, etc.

PeaceHealth has a wonderful opportunity for experienced RNs to train as an Operating Room nurse at our RiverBend campus in Springfield, Oregon!

This Training opportunity includes didactic and precepted clinical time; minimum 6 months in length.

There is no guarantee of a FTE position in the OR after completion of the training program. After successful completion of the training program, however, the caregiver is eligible to apply for any current position in the Operating Room.

RNs who successfully complete the program, and are hired into a position are expected to work in the OR for a minimum of 2 years after completion.

The Medical Center is allowed to hold accountable a nurse who is accepted into an extended training program by requiring the nurse to remain in the position for two years or to pay back all or a portion of a $5,000 sum, The obligation arises only if the nurse declines to accept an available position after having substantially completed the training program. The obligation is excused if the nurse is unable to continue in the position for reasons beyond the nurse’s control.

A professional portfolio will be required in order to be considered. This will include a resume, 3 letters of recommendation and completed essay questions. Interviews will be set up after review of the completed portfolio. After an application has been submitted, the candidate will be contacted by the recruiter with further instructions.

JOB SUMMARY

Provides professional nursing direct patient care in compliance with professional practice and unit standards. Promotes a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach towards patients, families and all members of the care delivery team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care needs.

  • Documents patient care in the healthcare record according to established standards.

  • Directs and delegates care to other team members in accordance with their education, credentials, and demonstrated competence.

  • Ensures own professional effectiveness through education and professional development.

  • Participates in the development of and maintains established hospital policies, procedures and objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection prevention program.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing required.

  • BSN or current enrollment in a BSN program preferred.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

  • Current Oregon Registered Nurse licensure required at date of hire.

  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required at date of hire.

OTHER SKILLS:

  • At least one year of RN experience required.

  • Previous perioperative services, and/or inpatient surgical, and/or critical care experience, and/or senior practicum in the OR strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships and patient/family centered work environment

  • Able to support and interpret medical center philosophy, policy and procedures

  • Basic computer skills

Working Conditions

Lifting

  • Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).

  • Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.

  • Push/Pull: Frequently up to 45 lbs. force (i.e., WOW, medical carts).

  • Perform hands on CPR at least 20 mins using 100-125 lbs. of force (National Assoc. of EMS Physicians and AHA) Frequency should be seldom or occasionally.

  • Ability to move around area with frequent sitting.

  • Bending/ stooping/ squatting/ reaching/ kneeling frequently.

  • Lifting (non-patient) up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently.

Environmental Conditions

  • Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.

  • Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy environment.

Mental/Visual

  • Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
