Pelican Products Mold Maintenance Technician in South Deerfield, Massachusetts

Mold Maintenance Technician Perform a wide range of operations and duties including: All aspects of mold introduction, maintenance and repair. Process support for complex problems as well as backup for day-to-day problems. Provide maintenance support for major and routine issues as needed and other manufacturing duties, which support the operation and production of Injection Molded Cases. ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS Mold Responsibilities: Responsible for all production aspects of mold introduction, maintenance and repair. Work from engineering prints, assembly drawings, manufacturer\'s documentation, blueprints, electrical/electric schematics, operating instructions, standard safety procedures, written and verbal instructions. Use machine tools, hand tools, small power tools, electrical hoists, testing equipment, etc. Responsibilities include the following: Actively participate in the Engineering Design Review process with R&D and vendors. Lead department in the development of procedures for startup of new molds. Act as the liaison between R&D and production in facilitating the production process. Develop PM program for each new mold and develop the process to put each new mold into production. Train machine technicians on any unique processing requirements for new molds. Lead department in maintaining knowledge of latest advances in tooling concepts and equipment by providing periodic reports to management and ongoing communication within the department. Make hoses, replace cylinders, and configure hydraulics including pressure, fittings, and hoses. Wire limit switches, a wide range of proximity switches, heat controllers, and thermocouples. Respond to all mold-related plumbing issues including temperature controllers, flow rate, and pressure. Maintain mold finish through sandblasting; preserve plating; pipefitting; select and fit inserts. Clean, grease, vent, prevent damage, replace worn parts, maintain daily log, and create mold maintenance schedule and procedures. 4/05 Work with external suppliers to coordinate mold work that cannot be completed in house. Process Technician Responsibilities: Responsible for working as a process technician as needed. Troubleshoot complex problems by providing expertise and support to machine technicians in the set up and operation of machines and by addressing major problems on off-shifts. This may include: . Material Process issues - wiring, servo faults, filling issues, positioning errors, or clamp/tonnage issues Machine Issues - Assist in R & D setup and testing of new machines. Resolve problems with wiring, filling issues, positioning errors, or clamp/tonnage issues. Tooling Issues - could involve problems with hydraulics, short shots, venting, ejector pins, damage to tooling, stuck parts, and mold finish. Robot Issues - Diagnose and correct day-to-day problems with robot positioning, programming, wiring, or component parts. Auxiliary Equipment Issues - Could involve problems with heat controllers, water tower, chillers, or material dryers or loaders. Maintenance Responsibilities: Responsible for arranging purchase of and maintaining inventory of critical spare parts, providing support and back-up to designated maintenance associates. Injection Molding Machinery - Assembly of new machinery and repair of machine components. Repairs may be things such as; replacing the injection unit pump, the machine way, face seal o-rings and broken hoses. Blow Mold Machinery - Repairing hydraulic hoses or auxiliary equipment. General - Provide back up for Manufacturing Services Associates including repair of tools or auxiliary equipment
