Basic Function:Process Engineering Technician consists of the support of South Boston Manufacturing and the development of procedures and processes to be used by various groups such as assembly associates, process engineering, test, HSE, and quality.

Follow specific instructions of the Focus Factory support team (Operations, ITML) or senior engineers to perform the less complex professional assignments requiring application of standard engineering principles and practices.

  • Support with the development and sustainment of Activity-Based Risk Assessments, Work Instructions, Standard Work documentation, and Process Control Plans.

  • Participate in kaizen events to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Cost measures for the Focus Factory. Active participation of supporting a clean, neat and organized work place.

  • Support with lean conversion of the Focus Factory value stream including, 5S and Visual Management, Rapid Problem Solving, SMED, Autonomous Maintenance, Training and Development.

  • Support assembly process with day-to-day needs (tooling, fixturing and jigs).

  • Key supporter of machine up-time and preventive maintenance activities for the Focus Factory

  • Use computers and selected programs for such matters as preparing reports and conducting analyses.

Typical duties/responsibilities for engineering may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Perform the less complex engineering assignments associated with various engineering activities. Monitor progress, comply with quality and schedule requirements, and maintain detailed logs and records.

  • Use computer programs to perform various engineering operations, conduct analyses and provide related data and information. Compile and assimilate data from various sources, conduct relatively routine operations and tests, prepare reports and develop graphics for presentations.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve routine problems and assist in resolving more complex issues.

Complexity of Tasks:Assignments require application of standard engineering concepts, familiarization with related computer programs, and general understanding of the group's operations in order to provide effective engineering support. Requires ability to communicate effectively and resolve routine problems. Active participation in continuous improvement activities and kaizen events.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in engineering or related field and up to 5 years of experience; alternatively, a special combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated accomplishments.
