Job Description

The Continuous Improvement Manager role is full-time dedicated to AGILE as a part of the Business Excellence team. You will report to the Associate Director of Business Excellence. You will ensure excellence in operations and supply reliability for our patients. Unlock full potential of our people and advance our capabilities. AGILE Managers go through a certification process which will build main capabilities in digital technologies and cultural change.

Upon two to three years of successful term in this role, AGILE Managers will be recognized as candidates for future opportunities to further progress their careers in the organization. The AGILE Manager (OE focus) will lead and Manager AGILE Operational Excellence (OE) deployment for an important area such as Fractionation, Purification or Engineering Maintenance. This involves collaboratively planning, building skills, and driving deployment of elements of the AGILE Operating System (AOS) that help the area achieve its goals. This is a developmental role requiring versatility and fast learning. Provide high visibility to senior leaders across the site.

How you will contribute

  • Use AGILE methods and tools to lead the site strategy to achieve its transformational (breakthrough) objectives faster. This includes: Identify opportunities aligned with strategy, make these visible, build the business case/burning platform to create momentum and lead teams operational excellence, ensuring outcomes are achieved and visible.

  • Connect and collaborate with global, regional and OpU groups to bring Good Practices to the site and to share our Good Practices with others.

  • Develop from learning AGILE methods and tools, through leading implementations to become a coach (build capabilities in others) in one or more elements of AGILE OE

  • Become 'approved' by Global OE to deliver workshops and lead implementations.

  • Demonstrate structured, logical, critical and analytical thinking.

  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills.

  • Process mapping software, Minitab.

  • Experience in FDA regulated environment, Good Manufacturing Practices, ISO 9001.

  • Must have organizational and project management abilities along with knowledge of manufacturing processes and continuous improvement approaches.

  • Become a role model in AGILE mindset, Manager change and demonstrate important skills, in root-cause analysis, 5S, Standard Work, Visual systems (including Tier mechanisms) and Leader GEMBA

  • May be assigned work in other AGILE streams such as Digital, or People, Culture & Change

  • Have a demonstrated passion for challenging the status quo and trying to improve the operation.

  • Open to doing things differently and have a experience taking concepts and implementing locally.

  • Can train others and work with employees on all levels. Can work extended hours and multiple shifts.

What you bring to Takeda:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline.

  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience in Manufacturing, Lean and Six Sigma.

  • Background in Operational Excellence, Continuous Improvement, Lean would be necessary; Six Sigma green belt or black training / certification.

  • 2+ years of experience desirable in the biotechnology / pharmaceutical industry.

  • Soft skills: Communication, Leadership, Teamwork, People Management

  • Lean: Ability to run workshops, Gemba walks and Tools implementations.

  • Six Sigma: Ability to conduct and lead Rapid DMAIC workshops, Teach and Coach the tools.

Important Considerations:

  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Frequently or constantly to lift, carry push, pull or move objects and repetitive motions.

  • Subject to inside environmental conditions.

  • Work is performed in an office setting.

  • We are looking for a combination of sedentary work and walking around the facility.

  • Non-Exempt roles can work overtime.

  • Some clean room and cool/hot storage conditions.

  • May work in a cold and wet environment.

  • Maybe required to work in confined spaces.

  • May enter controlled environments requiring special gowning.

  • No makeup, no jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish, artificial fingernails maybe worn in the manufacturing environment.

  • Travel for this position will include less than 5% locally usually for training purposes.

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$108,500.00 - $170,500.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
