Position Purpose:

Under limited supervision, participates in the design, development and ongoing user support of critical laboratory information systems, specifically, Cerner PathNet. Assumes project leadership to assure customer satisfaction. Is responsible for LIS daily operations, Code upgrades, DB build/maintenance and laboratory billing/revenue capture. Assures that lab billing is current and comprehensive. Serves as the laboratory liaison to TIS and Cerner. Creates reports necessary for Laboratory management.

What you will Do:

  • Develops and designs managerial reports to support operational efficiency, procedure counts, revenue, procedures by shift, etc.

  • Provides project coordination for personnel assigned to project teams. Coordinates code upgrades, scheduled downtimes, and serves as laboratory liaison to TIS.

  • Ensures that assigned projects are completed successfully within established budgets and timelines.

  • Is responsible for first-line contact for patient critical LIS issues. Identifies areas of LIS operations amenable to improvement.

  • Is responsible for validation, approval, and change management documentation of files, results, reference ranges, chart configurations, abnormal documentation codes, additions, deletions, etc. in BUILD environment and validation post move to PROD.

  • Is responsible for laboratory revenue stream.

  • Plans, develops, and implements on-going quality assurance monitors for LIS and PathNet systems.

  • Ensures compliance with regulatory, accrediting agencies and Corporate Compliance with respect to the LIS and patient information.

  • Designs, implements and evaluates training procedures for new and current users to assure standardization of operational knowledgeable of computer hardware and software.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum education requirements of an Associate's Degree but prefer a Bachelor’s degree, in Medical Laboratory Science, Information Technology or similar science.

  • Requires a minimum of 3-5 years clinical laboratory or information system experience. Previous project management, Cerner PathNet and facilitation experience preferred.

  • Must demonstrate a good working knowledge of Laboratory Information Systems.

  • Must demonstrate a positive attitude and the ability to build respectful relationships with peers, colleagues, pathologists, physicians, nurse managers and other staff members.

  • Demonstrates good interpersonal, problem-solving, coordination, team-building and communication skills.

  • Must be able to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
