Position Purpose

Under limited supervision, performs cardiac sonographic and/or vascular sonographic procedures and maintains related records. Provides general assistance to the cardiologists and technical instruction to the cardiology technician staff. Performs all duties and responsibilities of the cardiology technologist as needed.

What you will Do

  • Carries out prescribed diagnostic procedures choosing appropriate ultrasound equipment to produce images cardiac and/or vascular areas.

  • Performs and maintains records of equipment maintenance, carries out necessary quality control to insure that performance standards are satisfied.

  • Assists in Outreach patient scheduling and travels in the mobile diagnostic van to Outreach hospitals and clinics on a rotational basis with other staff members to perform echoes and/or vascular studies.

  • Performs all responsibilities of a Cardiology Technologist as required, including various diagnostic tests such as EKGs, holter monitoring and stress tests by following established policies and procedures.

  • Maintains all records related to patient diagnosis and maintains records of the test performed including the number and results and charges patients appropriately.

  • Performs echo, stress echo (exercise and pharmacologic), TEE, and pediatric echo and/or performs Venous Duplex (upper and lower extremity), Arterial Duplex (upper and lower extremity), Carotid Duplex and Arterial Doppler.

  • Takes call as assigned and assists the person on call if requested.

  • Notifies physician of any abnormal study requiring reading or referring doctor’s attention.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate of a two year accredited ultrasound school specializing in echocardiography or vascular ultrasound. Required to be registry eligible in that modality at the time of hire. Required to be registered in both echocardiography and vascular ultrasound within 2 years of hire.

  • Must be able to travel to remote sites.

  • BCLS certification required.

  • Prefer a minimum of one to two years previous cardiovascular experience.
