  • Directly Observes nursing care provided by an R.N. partner. Performs assigned patient care based on validated skills achieved in clinical/lab courses within his/her school of nursing.Supports the Mission of Trinity Health and Holy Cross Hospital.   • Start your journey as a Student Nurse Extern and be eligible for guaranteed senior practicum placement* and a new graduate nurse position. *Senior Practicum Placement- priority placement for senior practicum if candidate is enrolled in an affiliated School of Nursing that requires a senior practicum placement. Automatic consideration for a New Graduate Nurse position during final semester of nursing program. Upon graduation transition into pre-NCLEX New Graduate role and be eligible to participate in the nurse residency program, nursing internships and other new graduate transition to practice offerings. Following successful completion of the NCLEX exam (National Council Licensure Examination) and licensure, transfer to a RN New Graduate position. Collects and labels specimensMaintains effectiveness and efficiency of medical/surgical supplies and equipmentPerforms non-complex diagnostic tests under RN supervisionCleans and maintains all equipment used during patient carePerforms post-mortem care according to HCH policy & procedureCleans, organizes and ensures safety of the clinical environmentMaintains supplies and other hospital resources.Provides services to enhance patient comfort, support and safetyPerforms simple therapeutic tasksPerforms, under RN supervision, all patient care and related activities in a safe and timely manner according to HCH standardsReports all pertinent patient care information to appropriate multi-disciplinary care teamDocuments appropriate information in patient medical record as necessaryAnswers telephone and patient call lightsObserves RN partner in his/her daily interactions.
