Our mission is to make Amazon Customers’ paying experience better anywhere they shop. Digital Payments is growing at 12%, will reach $15T in 2027. Merchants want increased conversion, and higher sales. Buyers want consistent access to payment methods they’d like to use, and better financing. As a result, digital wallet usage will constitute more than 50% of ecommerce spend by 2025. Amazon Pay is our product in this space, and we as Amazon Payments believe we can help merchants increase conversion on their stores, and help customers save money and use their Amazon wallet anywhere they wish.

Key job responsibilities

As a manager of the team, you will be working with business partners, software development engineers, testers, and product managers to design, implement, test, launch, and maintain new automation solutions for Amazon Pay. You will have significant influence on our overall strategy by helping define product features, drive system architecture, and spearhead the best-practices that enable a quality product. You will learn a variety of cutting-edge technologies, development processes, and develop well-rounded skills such as leadership, and effective project management. You will also be responsible for building a strong development team and developing career plans for the engineers reporting to you.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

• 2+ years of engineering team management experience

• 5+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience

• 5+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

• Experience partnering with product or program management teams

• Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $148,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
