Nordstrom Program Manager 2 - HazMat Classification - HYBRID in Seattle, Washington

Job Description

Our Nordstrom Hazardous material program is focused on leveraging data and resources to classify inventory to meet current regulatory and consumer expectations across multiple compliance functions (DOT, IATA, EPA, NFPA). While also increasing our capability to take advantage of regulatory exemptions that enable increased item selection and new businesses. We must be able to flow the best brands and products into our stores to provide a relevant & inspiring shopping experience while maintaining regulatory compliance. ​

The Transportation organization is in search of a Program Manager 2, HazMat Classification who is adept at executing a robust portfolio of work aimed at enhancing operational workflows and fortifying communication channels within and across our teams and leadership. The ideal candidate is motivated, results-oriented, and committed to delivering prioritized Supply Chain and Transportation capabilities in support of our mission to serve existing and future customers. This position is responsible for owning key initiatives aimed at optimizing hazmat classification and coordinating policy integration with a high level of communication, collaboration, and attention to detail.

A day in the life…

  • Develop and implement Hazardous material classification strategies, initiatives, policies, and programs that reduce costs, while optimizing service, quality, and working capital.

  • Serve as an SME on HazMat classification optimization opportunities, while working closely with key stakeholders across the organization to achieve established goals.

  • Partner with Supply Chain Operations, Strategic Sourcing, Finance, Merchandising, and Inventory teams to drive Hazardous classification solutions with a cross-functional lens in mind.

  • Leverage financial, operational, and performance metrics to measure the success and impact of deliverables.

  • Gather, interpret, analyze and present data to inform decisions on scope, timing, and overall implementation process of the hazardous material classification strategy

  • Effectively communicates key updates and results and gets buy-in at all levels.

  • Work with stakeholders in Product and Tech to leverage hazmat classification data to storage and shipping operations within WMS and eCMS.

  • Collaborate with Merchandise to expand products we offer our customers, leveraging existing shipping, and storage exceptions based on hazmat product data.

  • Handling ad hoc hazardous classification initiatives, as needed.

    You own this if you have…

  • 5+ years’ work experience in a transportation/supply chain environment

  • E xperience with the following regulations:

  • PHMSA, USPS, IATA, EPA, ADR

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, Confluence, and SharePoint.

  • Working knowledge and/or experience with the implementation of transportation regulations as it pertains to dangerous goods.

  • Advanced Excel and/or Tableau skills, with an ability to manipulate large quantities of data.

  • Outstanding presentation, written, and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to engage at all levels.

  • Ability to work independently and part of a collaborative team.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities

  • CHMM certification preferred.

  • Ability to travel up to 20% annually (1-4 possible trips/year)

Pay Range Details

The pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different in other locations.

Illinois: $80,000 - $132,000 Annually, Washington: $80,000 - $155,000 Annually

This position may be eligible for performance-based incentives/bonuses. Benefits include 401k, medical/vision/dental/life/disability insurance options, PTO accruals, Holidays, and more. Eligibility requirements may apply based on location, job level, classification, and length of employment.
