SUMMARY

Maintenance Technician II delivers hands on repairs and maintenance supporting the daily operations of assigned Y facilities and equipment. The Seattle Y Facilities staff work as a team and play a crucial role in providing an excellent client, program participant, member and staff experience in a highly organized manner.

    Hiring range: $24.20-30.25/hr

Responsibilities

  • Performs maintenance & repair of buildings and grounds, including painting, flooring, drywall, plumbing, electrical, insulation, windows, doors, decks, roofing, siding, appliances and general repairs.

  • Operates, maintains and repairs equipment such as fitness, HVAC, landscape, power, heavy (backhoe, tractors, implements), and standby power equipment.

  • Operates, maintains and repairs swimming pool and/or water systems.

  • Performs light construction including framing, concrete, insulation, drywall, windows, doors, decks, roofing, siding, equipment installation, painting, and electrical and plumbing (where qualified).

  • May provide light cleaning, janitorial support as necessary.

  • May move furniture, equipment, appliances, etc.

  • May inspect and service vans, fleet vehicles and vessels and keep related records, depending on location.

  • May perform irrigation system installation, monitoring and repair depending on location.

  • Maintains appropriate certifications in technical areas where required. Depending on assigned location these may include but not be limited to certified pool operator, commercial driver’s license, captain’s license and water works operator.

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This position requires the ability to lift equipment, product and supplies up to 50lbs.

    POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

    This is a regular, full-time position. Hours are 8am to 4:30pm, 5 days/week.

Qualifications

  • 18 years of age or older.

  • Current state approved first aid certification. *

  • Current state approved CPR certification. *

  • Ability to lift 50lbs

  • Three years or more of related experience in general maintenance work.

  • Substantial experience in carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, general building systems and related areas as necessary.

  • May require knowledge of vehicle maintenance.

  • Sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential duties.

  • Ability to use equipment and chemicals in prescribed manner, including ability to read labels, MSDS information sheets, and instructions.

  • Basic ability to read blueprints and schematics.

  • Ability to identify and resolve potential safety and security problems.

    PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Prefer knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.).

  • Ability to speak any language in addition to English.
