Blue Origin LLC Lead Software Engineer - Verification in Seattle, Washington

This high-impact role is part of the Blue Origin Engines business unit, where our focus is the design, development, manufacturing and testing of engines and propulsion systems. Built for multiple uses, our family of engines is powering the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security and human spaceflight. As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will lead the verification of avionics software components on one of Blue Origin's flagship rocket engines. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of re-usable, safety-critical component development and delivery. This hands-on position requires experience in leading and verifying safety-critical embedded systems. Strong appreciation of the value of processes and compliance to standards is a must. Together, our teams deliver the embedded software that monitors and controls fully autonomous rocket engines. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Leading a team of software engineers responsible for verifying real-time, embedded, safety-critical software powering a state-of-the-art in-space rocket engine. Definition of strategy and best practices forSW Verificationincludingutilizationof test environments. Documentation and development of Software Verification standards (e.g., Test procedure standard, Test case standard). Development of SW Verification workflow, roadmap, task breakdown templates. Providing regular status updates and effective communication to senior leadership. Effective task delegation ensuring optimal job-person fit and workload balance. Approval of development and verification tools (qualified/unqualified, formal/informal). Ability to deep-dive to resolve technical issues between test equipment, tests, and embedded software. Minimum Qualifications: B.S. degree or higher in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, aerospace, or related field. 5+ years of hands-on experience developing or testing real-time embedded systems. 2+ years of leadership experience (mentoring/training junior developers). Excellent communication skills. Experience with a high-level language such as C/C++ Python, Rust. Experience in design, development or testing of safety-critical software systems in compliance with formal development processes such as DO-178 and a strong focus on process adherence. Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Preferred Qualifications: M.S. degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, aerospace, or related field. Familiarity with coding standards such as MISRA. Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing. Experience using artifact management tools such as DOORs, NextGen, Jama.
