Amazon Front End Engineer, E-Reader Shopping in Seattle, Washington

Description

Our vision for Kindle is to make every book ever published, in any language, available for every customer in less than 60 seconds. The Kindle Store team plays a key role in making this vision happen by providing a shopping experience that help customers discover the next book to read. We are looking for a creative, deeply technical and customer-obsessed engineers to implement new technology solutions that define the future of digital Shopping.

This role focuses on improving the shopping experience for users of the Kindle E-Reader. Millions of Amazon customers shop on their Kindle every month, and we need a creative and ambitious Front End Engineer to help us raise the bar on this unique front-end development challenge.

Key job responsibilities

The FEE is an expert in web technologies and in building composable, maintainable, delightful UIs. Day to day, you will:

  1. Design and implement great shopping experiences on the E-Reader, using frameworks such as React, React Native, Lit, and good ol' JSPs.

  2. Work closely with UX designers to align on designs which serve the customer need without adding unneeded tech complexity.

  3. Research and propose upgrades to the technologies we use, including but not limited to modern build systems, UI frameworks, common libraries, server-side rendering approaches..

Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ years of non-internship professional front end, web or mobile software development using JavaScript, HTML and CSS experience

  • 1+ years of computer science fundamentals (object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving and complexity analysis) experience

  • Experience using JavaScript frameworks such as angular and react

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of agile software development methodology experience

  • Experience with common front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JS, TypeScript, and Node

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $115,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
