Providence Director TCU in Seattle, Washington

Description

THE ROLE

Responsible for clinical operations and oversight of the 58-bed TCU unit, encompassing residents, patients and staff on a 24 hour basis. The unit functions as a hospital step-down, with intensive rehab nursing and complex acuity. Ensures that nursing services are delivered and maintained at the highest practical level for all patients and residents assigned. Management includes development and implementation of resident/patient service model which integrates the concepts of choice, dignity, individuality and a healing environment. Leads a team of RNs, LPNs, CNAs and other staff. Operational budget responsibility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Oversees staffing, budget and clinical operations for the TCU.

  • Leads and participates in quality processes and survey compliance to ensure excellence in clinical services provided.

  • Works with the Clinical Director and Education department to ensure training, education and compliance measures are met.

  • Works collaboratively with the SNF/Operations Director to ensure support systems are accurate in billing, EMR, project management, admission processes, and special assignments.

  • Selects, hires, evaluates, leads and coaches all unit staff, including RNs, LPNs, housekeepers, dining hosts

  • Assures a healthy, safe environment using appropriate infection control processes, fire safety and disaster preparedness.

  • Works collaboratively and in partnership with the Director of Clinical Services, Neighborhood Coordinators and other staff to ensure quality care outcomes for patients/residents.

  • Assumes on-call responsibilities in rotation with other Managers.

  • Able to assist in direct care if urgent need arises.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited school of Nursing

  • 7 years of Clinical leadership and management.

  • 5 years of experience managing in a TCU/sub-acute, hospice, home care, or SNF setting

  • Experience as an RN in TCU/sub-acute setting

  • Revenue cycle and budget/financials experience (preferred)

  • Requires ability to communicate in English effectively both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to follow appropriate communications channels

  • Demonstrates competency by maintaining positive, collaborative, and constructive interpersonal relationships. Understands and practices the principles of effective teamwork

  • Able to work flexible hours and different shift times

  • Demonstrates ability to prioritize work assignments and meet productivity and quality standards

  • Adapts easily to changes in work assignments and environment, is willing to assume additional responsibility and learn new procedures

  • Effective organizational skills

  • Ability to use standard office equipment including personal computers, telephones, copiers and fax machines

  • Proficiency with MS Office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred. Proficiency with electronic medical records programs

  • Knowledge of nursing care, which includes clinical disease entities, physical assessment skills, medications, treatments, specialized diets, preventative care and safety and comfort and protection of clients

  • Ability to document nursing services and the ability to create and to implement a plan of care with specific, measurable objectives and approaches to maximize client’s care needs

  • Knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures as well as laws, regulations and guidelines that pertain to long-term health care

  • Ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing nursing practices.
